LB Jaylon Smith might reach out to former Bills RBNotre Dame LB Jaylon Smith would have been in the conversation to be the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft had he not torn his ACL and LCL in the Fighting Irish’s bowl game against Ohio State last month. His situation is not unlike that of former Bills RB Willis McGahee, who suffered a catastrophic knee injury in Miami’s national title game against Ohio State. McGahee, though he did not play in his rookie season of 2003, still wound up being a first-round pick when the Bills chose him 23rd overall. The timing of his knee injury was similar to that of Smith.
