The athletic tests fans have grown to love about the NFL Combine won't start until later in the week but that didn't stop the flow of news and anecdotes from Lucas Oil Stadium Wednesday, including these highlights from the coaches and general managers who spoke to the media.

2016 NFL Scouting Combine Player Measurements and Results

The first groups of players are working through their more basic tests today after undergoing their medical examinations yesterday.

Most of the tests will be fairly simple, as the league wants to measure each players height, weight, arm length and hand size among a few other basics, to get the real numbers rather than the media guide version that colleges or agents provide.

Auburn RB: Homeless mother compelled draft entry

Auburn RB Peyton Barber's decision to enter the NFL draft as an underclassman was surprising. On Wednesday at the NFL Combine, he revealed the troubling reason.

 

North Dakota State's Carson Wentz and Cal's Jared Goff are competing to be the top quarterback drafted in 2016. The early tale of the tape favors Wentz.

 

Day 2 of the National Scouting Combine brought the quarterbacks and wide receivers through the interview room, including Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell setting his goal for the 40-yard dash and explaining why he will wait until his pro day to run it.

 

California's Jared Goff (hand size), Michigan State's Connor Cook (leadership) and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz (level of competition) spoke with the media Thursday, hoping to prove that they deserve a first round selection.
