Not even sure it's a penalty. No helmet-to-helmet contact and he seemed to pull back right at the end. Far less dangerous than the non-penalized helmet to helmet hit on the ND quarterback on the QB sweep at the end of the first half.

They should revisit the rule.

@NFL_CFB

UPDATE: Joey Bosa tweets apology after being ejected from #FiestaBowl http://bit.ly/1Tu2T6g

no doubt , should not be an ejection unless their is obvious malicious intent

No, the players just need to stop spearing each other.

It wasn't a huge hit but there was no reason whatsoever for Bosa to put his helmet into him.

He's been raised in an environment where that hit was legal.... but it simply no longer is.

I hate losing the big hits and fans love it when an opposing player gets drilled with a helmet first hit,,,,,,,but the entire point of the rule is to take the excess violence out of the game.

get real, sometimes those things happen, there were dozens of time I tried to tackle a guy with my shoulder but ended up hitting them with my helmet. There was no "excess violence" to that play, if they really enforced this rule they would have to throw out have the teams at half time.

definitely worth ending a kids college career for and taking away his ability to play in a game he's spent countless hours preparing for. Huh. Ridiculous.

Can we draft this kid right now!

kid is such a dynamic threat that he could used as a back, WR, returner .... QB ..... jk .....maybe B-)

If he is smart he comes out after next yr and doesn't waste his body in college.

I don't know what McCaffrey's eligibility is off the top of my head, but if he's draft eligible in 2016 he should declare when the Rose Bowl clock strikes 00:00.

Dude is tearing it up against Iowa. This game might make him the #1 overall pick

Sophomore star Christian McCaffrey is not eligible to enter the 2016 NFL Draft because he is not yet three years removed from graduating high school. However, the topic of college players entering the draft early came up once again during the Heisman Trophy week in New York City.

Stanford head coach David Shaw and McCaffrey's father, former Denver Broncos wide receiver Ed McCaffrey, addressed the topic. Their opinions on the matter were very different, to say the least.

“I've heard this debate a lot," said Shaw, via the MMQB. "Andrew Luck wasn’t even ready after three. The difference with Andrew is that Andrew knew it. A lot of guys don’t know it. I tell our players, ‘It’s a different sport. It’s not the next level of your sport, it’s a different sport. In the NFL they are faster, they are stronger, the locker room is different, the coaching is different, the media is different.

While Shaw believes that player aren't ready after just a couple of seasons in college, the elder McCaffrey seemed to believe that some players are ready to make the jump after two seasons.

“This is going to shock you," said McCaffrey, via the MMQB. "… I think the rule, personally, should be that you can leave after two years. I’ll throw Leonard Fournette into the mix. You think Leonard Fournette is not physical enough to be in the NFL right now? I mean, look at the guy, he’s ready."

Get real?

Thems the RULES, son.

Not sure how more REAL than specifically saying you can't lead with the crown of your helmet is.

If he accidentally stumbled into somebody with his helmet it's one thing, that's why they review it......... but he simply chose to finish the play that way.....finishing with the helmet has long been a way to give a little extra pain to your opponent..........if he didn't have a helmet on he wouldn't do it.....simple as that.

The players know the rules, it's just a tough habit to break after years of doing it.

The Bills are about to take a big salary cap hit for the now "born again leader" but former knucklehead late-hit and pf specialist Aaron Williams........who injured his neck leading with his helmet in 2014........the leagues are under fire for concerns about concussions..............there are reasons that sh*t has to be cut out.
