LSJ OL La'el Collins has a meeting scheduled with the Bills

Here's to hoping Rex took Collins and his family onto the private jet right after dinner and they're all in Orchard Park this morning waiting for the BTI to open.

but then he would miss his meeting with the fascinating Joe Philbin. Zzzz

Can you imagine Collins agent, "Hey La'el, how do you feel about meeting Joe Philbin for dinner" or "Hey La'el, how do you feel about meeting Rex Ryan for dinner"

Pay him more than Jameis's deal. If we sign him what a major win, it's not likely he's even available at 19 before this all happened. Signing him (and having him cleared) would be like we traded nothing for Sammy.

Even better because he wouldnt make 19 overall draft pick money

That's a risky proposition, siting out a year without football and expecting to be taken high. I don't think it's been done anytime in the modern era.

Any guy with rules violations has missed a year. Quinn went top ten still. Not sure how teams would react to this reason though.

These local reporters are way more into this than the reporters during "Mario Watch". I assume it's because of the murder investigation tied to his story.

the reporter even tweeted a photo of the menu at Ruffino's. Not sure we ever got this level of detail from Tempo! Edited by YoloinOhio

Ha ha, yeah that plays a big part. The people in BR don't care about too much beyond LSU football and LSU baseball. This is a big story there.

True but I meant getting drafted and stiffing the team that drafted him, as well as sitting out the year.

Ah, got it

Everything is capped for an UDFA

Best recruiting tool is playing time and the Bills can certainly offer that

Also remember that Maurice Clarett and Mike Williams (USC) sat out a year, and they were busts. I'm not saying they would have succeeded if they continued their development in school, but surely a year away from competitive football didn't help them.

How so?

even the signing bonus is capped at $88K

I dont think their is any loophole.

Collins will be offered the max deal by every team

We just hope that Rex has the best recruiting skills.

CBF

I'm wondering if they could offer Collins a good sponsorship deal or hook him up with a company?

"Rex Reid" and "Lack of Ram" are my two favorites.

It's bad enough when a restaurant runs out of Ramb, but then to flaunt it on the menu...

Yolo posted this in the UDFA thread.

@pdomo: NFL exec told me UDFA money got out of hand after the draft. There's an $86,000 cap on FA signing bonus money, but teams were. . .

@pdomo: . . . getting around the limit by splitting signing bonus and Paragraph 5 (base salary) guarantees. There's no limit on Paragraph 5 money.
