Maybe a dumb question but can the bills pay La'el whatever they want or under the CBA do they have to pay a certain contract based on slotting?

They are confined to pay him according to the rookie wage scale as negotiated in the CBA. He'd have to make his "real" money in his 2nd contract.

Not really...they have to comply with the rookie cap

Can they restructure after a year?

I think the CBA prevents them from touching his deal until the completion of his 3rd accrued season.

That's why the rookie incentive program was established (I think)

yep I remember both Seantrel and preston brown getting sizable bonus money after the season. Henderson made the most of any rookie in bonus Because of how late he was drafted and how many snaps he played

You are correct. The Seahawks couldn't do it for Russell Wilson despite him being grossly underpaid. They had to wait as mandated by the CBA.

Thats what I thought. I thought that it was 2 years though for UDFAs. I guess it doesn't matter because I am advocating a pick on him.

Me too...if you're relatively confident he's clear, take him with your next pick.

I think it would take some major convincing to get Collins to sign at this point, he would be loosing out on roughly $8MM if he thought he was going to go in the middle of the 1st.
