I like this pick. I think this is a pick that in two years will start to emerge for us and give us consistent performances above average in spot time. I foresee him entering the field in limited roles. Right now Robey being the zone CB and Darby being the man-to-man in the slot. Gilmore and McKelvin outside. Play dime with Robey and Darby inside. 33 front. A single high safety with Aaron Williams? You're not passing on that. You'll run, though and thats why I want Brandon Spikes back. Put him in the middle on that.

We still have Cockrell and Ron Brooks. I like Cockrell and not sure what to think about Brooks anymore. Brooks may be done in a Bills uniform but i think he may catch on somewhere and play another 2 or 3 years. Cockrell, I hope can make the team. Robey will make the team. Gilmore, Graham and McKelvin are obvious.

Yeah, now that the dust has settled (and we got a mauling OG in the 3rd) Im feeling better and on board with the pick. Had to remember that we were setup to go BPA at any position. And you can't have too many CBs, especially when Rex Ryan is your coach.

I'm curious how many of the people trashing the pick know much about the player and how many are just pissed because it's a CB. I don't know a lot about the player himself, but I think a good CB is a solid addition to this team and have a hard time understanding why anyone would disagree.

This pick is the equivalent of eating a spicy, yet yummy burrito. I'm still waiting and wishing the indigestion doesn't turn out to be diarahhea and instead, was just an insanely tasty piece of Mexican cuisine.

As I said: I dislike the pick, not the player (and as you know, I study these guys pretty intently so I'm not exactly shooting from the hip)

I know you do quite a bit of scouting, but I'm guessing there are others who just see CB and hate it

My initial reaction was based on "draft experts" ratings, so disappointment initially. Same experts that had Richard Sherman rated 5th/6th round talent. Just saying...

It's funny though, if waking up today you'd have told me the Bills took Miller at #50 and Darby at #81 I would be thrilled. Addressed OL with a grinder and added a speedster CB.

As an added bonus, we now have someone to line up opposite Goodwin in practice who won't be left completely in the dust.

good point. Also watkins - as I recall he was regularly toasting our CBs last year in camp

Yup. They possibly upgraded two positions with 1 pick if this allows Graham to move to safety full time.

I don't hate the player because before Jimbo said his name I'd never heard of him. I hate that once again we reached and once again we used our first pick on "BPA" rather than need.

You really can't do both of those things at once can you? BPA and a reach, how is this possible?

Great stuff in the scouting report link:

Overall

Darby may be the best pure cover corner in this draft class and grades out as a mid first round prospect and instant starter.

That writer sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

McKelvin has one year, maybe 2 left with the Bills....Graham also....Cockrell and Darby could be the No.2 and 3 CB soon....there is not a lot of good depth at CB...Robey is a nickel only and Brooks is not a starter.
