I don't see it happening ! Roman wants a mobile QB & Petty is no that guy .

Unless a endorsement comes from Roman i don't think Whaley will do it .

Petty, not mobile? He ran plenty of read option at Baylor. He is very mobile as far as QB's go. He's no Mariota, but he is plenty mobile.

I think that there's a greater chance that the move DOWN if Petty is there than move up to get him.

It's just my opinion, but I can't envision a scenario where they bring in a QB prospect and end up cutting either Taylor (who Rex seems to love) or EJ (who will cost them $3M against the cap to cut).

I firmly believe that any QB added will be competition for Tuel for the PS/developmental role.

If we draft Petty when Maxx Williams and AJ Cann are still on the board then I will lose it

CBF

If they believe he has the potential to be a top 10-12 QB, you can't not take him. You can certainly question whether they're right about the individual player or not, but if you're running a team without a QB and you have a chance to take someone you think will be a really good one, you HAVE to take him.

Not taking Petty in the 2nd or 3rd doesn't mean we will not select a QB at all though

Taking a good qb requires taking a shot in the early rounds as a rule. I agree that if you don't try you won't get. And we haven't tried. A 6th or 7th round flyer (I know, Brady) is not a recipe for success. If they thin the guy can be a franchise QB one day, take him.

I thought that Carr was impactful. He got better as the season went on and had a miserable receiver corps.

yeah, I think it's early for the 2014 guys, I wasn't sure if I should include them at all

Your point still stands regardless. I wonder whether it's even right to include Carr. I remain convinced that the only reason he ended up being drafted in the second round rather than first was because he was the brother of David Carr, as big a bust as Jamarcus Russell if you think about it (and at least Jamarcus didn't string teams along with false hope!). My favorite David Carr stat: in his final starting season for Houston, he led the league in completion pct (68.3) but only had 6.3 ypa. That's really hard to do! It's like every pass is a screen!

That's the real authority on this subject.
