Thunderstealer Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I feel like the link should have been to the onion and had another 2 paragraphs about how there are dark powers in NE. Belli is a great coach. AND he rigged a way to lessen fumbles of his ball carriers--now that that is over, and his players are on a level playing field--we might have a chance.
Prickly Pete Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 That's great that you have those memories but not every move the Pats* have done over the last 15 years has been smart. It's fair to criticize them as they have made some questionable decisions. They don't walk on water. But if that's the way you would like to perceive them because the Bills have been bad, ok then. I mean let's not forget that they were a team prior to 2000 and I have some memories of the Bills absolutely trouncing the Pats* including an 8 year run where the Bills went 11-3 against them and the Bills went to 4 Super Bowls. Meanwhile the Pats* went, 5-11, 1-15, 6-10, 2-14, 5-11 and so on. And you know what, the Bills made mistakes in those years too. Where did I say every move they have made has been great? I mentioned that Belichick has a good idea what Chandler is capable of, and that basically, I trust his assessment more than a bunch of bitter clowns on a Bills forum. I don't see what the pre-Belichick Pats have to do with this discussion. I guess we shall all know the answer after this season, huh? Painting me as a Patriots fan because I don't buy into Deflate Gate is simplistic, and the insults haven't been very clever. They really just show the sad depth of your bitterness.

QCity Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 the comp pick stuff was a little much - as if that was the plan all along. There's a reason teams like the Pats and Ravens are near the top of list for receiving comp picks year after year - it was the plan all along. There are front offices out there that make a calculated effort to attain these picks, and it starts with a philosophy that most teams haven't adopted yet (or simply don't understand). The Pats will get their 3rd round comp pick this year and I guarantee you they will get their 3rd rounder next year for losing Revis (just one of the reasons that contract was for 2 years and not a 1-year hired gun arrangement) Manipulating the NFL's compensatory pick system to your advantage is the hallmark of an innovative front office today. If you investigate more into what some of these teams are doing, you will find that there are a handful of GM's in the league playing a high level game of chess.
CardinalScotts Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 He is going to have a very good year with the Pats. wont play in front of wright or gronk so he's third TE at best..no factor
Direhard Fan Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Sure as, someone gets hurt and he plays. Catches and falls down. Loves east and west. No loss. Sure liked his wifes interview thou. Will miss her.
Kirby Jackson Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 He is going to have a very good year with the Pats. If he has a very good year I will never watch football again. He is so incredibly limited physically and is the 3rd receiving option and 4th overall option at the position. I am not sure how that is translating to a really good year? if we are defining a really good year as making the team and dressing for 8+ games I could see that. If we are talking 30+ catches (barring an injury) I just don't see it. The guy is a bad football player that was ALWAYS overrated on here because of the other TEs that have worn a Bills uni.
eball Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Guys, please stop feeding HoF Watkins. He's sitting under the bridge gorging himself.
Prickly Pete Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Guys, please stop feeding HoF Watkins. He's sitting under the bridge gorging himself. I guess it's trolling to suggest that Chandler might have a good year with the Patriots? What are you afraid of? Edited April 30, 2015 by HoF Watkins

If you investigate more into what some of these teams are doing, you will find that there are a handful of GM's in the league playing a high level game of chess. i understand the comp pick process pretty darn well, but i dont agree that they waited on him with any plan that instead of getting him as an expired contract, they could just get him as a cut a year later. there was no belief at all by the pats that he would be available or that the team that picked him up would cut him. and revis, by way of that 2 year deal that was voided, instead of a 1 year expiring contract shouldnt be in the calculations (ie he wasnt unrestricted from leaving, they had an option and chose to send him out the door) If he has a very good year I will never watch football again. He is so incredibly limited physically and is the 3rd receiving option and 4th overall option at the position. Kirby Jackson Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 i think you are pushing it a little hard. hes not a good #1 but the guy could be a role player. 30 catches would SHOCK me. For me it is the situation that will keep him under 30 catches (barring an injury). I do not see him playing ahead of Gronk or even Wright. Hoomanawanui is the blocking TE and saw his fair share of snaps. Chandler cannot play ST so I really don't see how he is getting an opportunity there? If he were somewhere else I would agree (the Saints actually made a lot of sense to me).
Gugny Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Just so I'm clear, we're talking about the person who holds the Bills record for TDs by a TE in a season, right? The record he tied in about half a season?
Direhard Fan Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Are we sure he is gone? Just opened my Bills calendar for May and there he is. Big as life.
Mr. WEO Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I guess it's trolling to suggest that Chandler might have a good year with the Patriots? What are you afraid of? Oh....you don't want to go there!

And I don't see Gronkowski playing a full season, or not having debilitating injury issues at points in the season. Oh....you don't want to go there! I'm not afraid to go anywhere on this board. They just toss away money all the time!! Remember Haynesworth? Ocho Cinco? Adalius Thomas? Shawn Springs? Joey Galloway? Leigh Bodden? They have made some horrible decisions when it comes to veterans. I respect what the Pats do as much as anyone but it doesn't automatically mean that he is now good because they signed him. He doesn't make a whole lot of sense there unless Gronk gets hurt (which happens all the time). I would not at all be surprised if he did not dress the rest of the time. They may have made bad decisions, but they didn't sign those guys not expecting them to play. I don't think that the Pats signing Chandler means he is now good. I think he was a good player already. There is a difference. You are implying that he sucks, and that they signed him without intending to use him.
Doc Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 I'd say that not signing a player who could help you immediately because you wanted to get an end-of-7th rounder a year later, who likely wouldn't even make it out of pre-season, is the opposite of genius.

I'm not sure if this is directed at me or not, but I didn't claim it was a genius move. I think the article is crap, but I do expect Chandler to do well in NE.
