My point is he need to work. If the Pats are the only team offering him a job , well he kinda has to take it.

i see your point. Right fit ? we dont know the Bills want him anymore.

I do of course : )

The guy wants to play football. He is going to take an offer.

thing i need to keep in mind, he has time still. Injuries , rookie players that dont pan out etc.

Dump C Williams and..

BRING BACK SPIKES goldarnit !

I'm all for it regardless of what the insiders say

Frankly, I am eager to see what he says about buffalo if he signs in New England. Could make for some hilarious threads.

we can go back to hating him ?!

The Bills have a good roster when they don't have room or cap space for a good player like Spikes.

this is quite nice indeed, if true

Sal said today Spikes return is unlikely.

and he would know ?

Those nasty Insiders never liked us anyways

Yep his tweet about that is earlier in this thread. This morning, Sal added that spikes price is too high for what he would be adding to the team on the field for this team, which is what I suspected. He surmised he wants 3 to 3.5 per yr abd the Bills don't feel he is worth it as he doesn't really have a position on this team. If he was willing to play for the vet minimum It sounds like they would like to have him on the team. Unless there is an injury he will end up somewhere else, the Pats or a team where a starting ILB gets hurt.

I cannot imagine any team will be willing to go $3M on Spike at this point. That Pats** don't have that available, either. I surmise he'll need to swallow his pride and take much less or retire. He is an outstanding leader and still a good player, but he will need to come off the field too often for that kind of money at this point in the offseason. His best bet may be to sit and wait for a team to become needy through injury or suspension.

Really well said. Take the pay cut and join a program who needs/wants your talents. I understand it's a business, but he needs to be happy too. By all accounts, he loves buffalo, the teammates and the fans. Unless Doug removed his offer, I don't see what or who he is waiting for. At this point in time, he won't draw much more than vet min. from any team barring injury.

After hearing Rex gush about Ty Powell yesterday, the odds of a Spikes return got even longer.

He did gus didn't he .

The question was about Jimmy Gaines i believe. did not get a warm fuzzy for him to remain

ibelieve I saw a positive quote about Gaines. I will look for it.

Here it is

@JaySkurski: Rex Ryan says Ty Powell has stood out in competition for spots as reserve LBs. Says Buffalo native Jimmy Gaines will get a good look, too.

I looked at his PFF rating #13 ILB with 519 snaps . That's good for the right price. I think the problem is finding room on this roster. Wish they would raise the 53 limit.

What a wonderful problem to have.
