billsgpr88 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 (edited) Just watched Preston Brown interview, and he stressed how much he wanted Spikes back. He's underrated as a run stuffer and the kinda guy want on your goal line defense, if you know what I'm trying to say. The guy walked on the team and was elected as a team captain after a couple of months last year. The price tag is low, just get it done already and free up draft picks for OL/DL. GG Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Wonder if the Bills waiting till May 6th to sign him? Or a week after
KollegeStudnet Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Landry and Spikes will probably be brought on May 6th or after.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 I can't believe no one thought/discussed this before now
frogger Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Landry and Spikes will probably be brought on May 6th or after.I'm not so sure about Landry, I have a feeling they are going to draft a corner early and move Corey Graham to SS giving them 4 fairly good man cover guys...0 blitzes all day!The number is 72, can we get to it?
3rdand12 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 (edited) may 12fth. and that stupid comp sheets Know why no one showed interest in Spikes ? its not because he sucks now is it? 51 is the Mike I can't believe no one thought/discussed this before now Well.. maybe since its finally almost 6th 12th of May, we should ? I think they want Landry too. and let Graham move back and forth depending. He is an in the box guy of course , but a nice replacement for Searcy. This is also something i might consider a secret handshake was done.but the money is going to be tight for both Spikes and Landry. yikes! Edited April 29, 2015 by 3rdand12

The only way he effects us is if a different team signs him before May and he becomes a loss
3rdand12 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Spikes could sign today with no effect. The only way he effects us is if a different team signs him before May and he becomes a loss dont bother me with details Saint You post like a lawyer sometimes. I do respect you Sir, but you drive me nuts with your attention to detail. Like all of them. Just give me Spikes gosh darnit all!! and throw in a Landry for good measure. I will give you a Chris Williams, after May 12fth of course.
FluffHead Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Me thinks spikes will be back. Preston seemed to indicate spikes just isn't here "right now" What happens on May 6th or 12th? I believe after that date it no longer counts against your possible compensatory picks for the next years draft? I may be wrong on the deets but it's something along those lines
K D Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I think it's a "wait and see" with Spikes. They want to sign Landry and their draft picks and then see how much money they have left. Spikes wants to come back but he wants the most money possible so they probably said let us see where we are at after all of that and then we will make you our best offer
Kelly the Dog Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I'm beginning to think that the Bills know there are only 4-5 total roster spots on this team. If they don't select an LB in rounds 2-3 they sign Spikes. Same thing with a Safety. If they don't draft one in the first two picks, guys that will surely make the team, they sign the guy they want for the veteran minimum in Spikes and Landry.
Rocky Landing Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Does anyone else remember how bad we were at stopping the run the season before we brought in Spikes?
C.Biscuit97 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Does anyone else remember how bad we were at stopping the run the season before we brought in Spikes? There was also a big change in defensive philosophy. Spikes is very good against the runs but his snaps decrease throughout the season.
Rocky Landing Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 There was also a big change in defensive philosophy. Spikes is very good against the runs but his snaps decrease throughout the season. Did that change in defensive philosophy not include bringing in Spikes as a run-stuffing specialist?
Pete Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Landry and Spikes will probably be brought on May 6th or after. I agree- depending on whom we draft
C.Biscuit97 Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Did that change in defensive philosophy not include bringing in Spikes as a run-stuffing specialist? Partly but I don't think he was as big of an impact as you think. Pettine's scheme was blitz heavy that helped created big plays but also left huge holes. Schwartz was more conservative and didn't blitz as much. Thus, guys were able to fill gaps better. Spikes is a one dimensional player in a passing league. He would be our 3rd or 4th best LB. I believe he values himself a lot higher than that and that's probably why he doesn't have many offers.
