The stupidity of the elected never ceases to amaze.

"’s a very delicate balancing act because while we tried to make sure they were protected from the cars and the other things that were going on, we gave those who wished to destroy space to do that, as well. "

I like how she wants the rioters to be able to destroy worry free from being hit by cars. Could never make this stuff up.

Baltimore Mayor: 'We… Gave Those Who Wished To ...

I think that she just misspoke, trying to please all sides and subsequently saying something stupid.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were intentional. It's Baltimore. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they designated certain neighborhoods "destruction zones," in the interests of urban renewal.

.No she's just dumb. All these mayors of large urban cities are unqualified to clean our bathrooms let alone have any kind of responsibility.

If I'm a cop there it sounds to me like it's time to stand down completely. Maybe go on vacation.

If I'm a cop, I take the mayors statement that some parts of town are not worth protecting. So if I'm patrolling the neighborhood that the mayor lives in, which I doubt is anywhere near the riot ghetto, maybe I decide the mayor's street isn't worth patrolling.

You could never pay me enough to deal with these animals. The cops are in a no win situation.

The idiot claimed she didn't say what she's on video actually saying. And then has the nerve to say the media is "twisting her words."

My Dad is a retired cop, started in the early 70s and retired in the late 90s. There was a big change from when he started to when he retired. He still talks to Cops and they say it's only getting worse

Right around when they raised the drinking age to 21 and made DUI laws stricter. Coincidence?

I think it was the rise of the cable networks and the Internet that spotlighted the big profile cases. Like Amadou Dialo and Abner Louima.

I remember hearing stories from the 80's about a compact that cops and criminals had where the chips would simply beat the drug dealers instead of arresting them, because they knew that they'd be out in the streets shortly. This was also the times where it was accepted for a cop to hold a perp by the ankles off the rooftop. It was also the height of police corruption in big cities.

Much had changed since those days, and the worry is that the pendulum is swinging in the totally opposite direction where cops are neutered to do their job right

More like the war on drugs and shift from keepers of the peace to Law Enforcement

Poor thing you know she's a single mom. No dad around to properly smack that kid down and in line.

If she's the Mayor I nominate this guy for prez.
