Alright, I'm usually one of the people who throw their hat in the ring and give this a shot. My enthusiasm about the draft this year is lacking a bit in part to the fact we don't have a 1st Round pick. Either way the tradition must go on. Here's my attempt, trades and all, at a 1st Round mock.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Jameis Winston / QB / Florida St. - Hate the guy, love the guy, he WILL go #1 overall. He has all the tools, but he may be too much of a tool to succeed in the NFL. I surely don't think he is a can't miss prospect at the position.

2. Tennessee Titans - Leonard Williams / DT / USC - The rumors of a trade with San Diego for Rivers I just don't see happening. I don't see San Diego letting the face of their franchise go just yet when they have a playoff team basically intact. I think Tennessee rolls with Mettenberger this year and goes with the best DL'man in the draft.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Vic Beasley / DE / Clemson - The Jags have their QB of the future it seems so they will be fielding calls about someone wanting to move up for Mariota. No one bites and they select a pass rusher who is as consistent as they come. He didn't just show up against lightweight competition, he was consistent week in and week out. He put together an excellent combine even after adding 15lbs more to his frame still running a 4.53 40 yard dash.

4. New York Jets (via trade with Oakland) - Marcus Mariota / QB / Oregon - It won't cost too much for them to leap the Redskins here and the Raiders are only dropping back two spots to pick up an extra draft pick. The Jets get the QB they've been eye-balling for a while now. I also think having Fitz there will help Mariota a great deal with learning the offense. It's probably the best landing place Mariota could hope for actually because of the offensive system that's going to be in place and being able to learn from Fitz.

5. Washington Redskins - Dante Fowler / DE / Florida - Orakpo is gone to Tennessee. I know they drafted Murphy last year, but Fowler has the looks of an upper echelon pass rusher in this league. Explosive, quick change of direction, and he plays violent. The Skins were hoping Mariota would fall to them, but at least they still got RGIII.

6. Oakland Raiders - Shane Ray / DE / Mizzou - Oakland dropped back a couple of spots, picked up an extra pick, and still land one of the premier pass rushers in this draft. Like this guy a lot. Loves the game, plays violent, and has a variety of ways to beat you to the QB. Mack on one side and Ray on the other? Oakland will be harder to handle this upcoming season.

7. Chicago Bears - Trae Waynes / CB / Michigan St. - The defensive side of the ball will be taking on some massive changes with John Fox bringing a 3-4 defense along with him. They also need help just about everywhere. Waynes and Fuller are a solid foundation at the CB position for the next 4 years or so for the Bears.

8. Atlanta Falcons - Alvin Dupree / DE / Kentucky - Lots of pass rushers coming off the board in the top 10 this year, but no one could argue there isn't a team that needs it more than the Atlanta Falcons.

9. New York Giants - Ereck Flowers / OT / Miami - Not a real sexy pick here for the Giants and some may think it's a reach, but their OL was pretty crappy last year. The more time you give Eli the less INT's he throws. The Giants could go WR here also with the status of Cruz up in the air, but I think they address the trenches early.

10. St. Louis Rams - Brandon Scherff / OT / Iowa - The Rams have quite a few needs, but the OL needs the most help. Scherff can play RT, but is more likely a G in the NFL. Either way it is help for a weak spot on team that needs OL help.

11. Minnesota Vikings - Jalen Collins / CB / LSU - The Vikings just added Mike Wallace. They already had Charles Johnson, who is a player on the rise, and Cordarrelle Patterson who looked like he was going to be special his rookie year. I think they pass on a WR to take the best CB on the board as it is a weak spot for them on their defense. He and Rhodes will make for a solid young tandem of CB's.

12. Cleveland Browns - Kevin White / WR / West Virginia - Who would have thought the Cleveland Browns luck would have them being able to pick whom they feel is the best WR in the class? All of them last until #12 and Kevin White is their selection.

13. New Orleans Saints - Danny Shelton / DT / Washington - The Saints were constantly gouged last year on defense. Put this behemoth in the middle of that defensive front and watch things start to turn around a little bit.

14. Miami Dolphins - Amari Cooper / WR / Alabama - Miami is still remaking it's WR corps after getting rid of the malcontent Mike Wallace. Amari Cooper falls into their lap at #14 and they do not hesitate to turn in the selection.

15. San Francisco 49ers - La'el Collins / OT / LSU - Collins will serve as Iupati's replacement and slide to LG for the 49ers who need help all over the place.

16. Houston Texans - DeVante Parker / WR / Louisville - They just let go of the WR who has carried them for years. DeAndre Hopkins is the #1 guy on this team and Parker is a physical WR to pair up with him. I definitely think he will be able to beat out the likes of Cecil Shorts and Nate Washington for playing time.

17. San Diego Chargers - Todd Gurley / RB / Georgia - They finally shed the dead weight of Ryan Matthews and are now getting the best RB the draft has to offer. Oliver is OK, Woodhead is Woodhead, and that's all they have right now in SD. Surround Rivers with talent while he is there.

18. Kansas City Chiefs - Philip Dorsett / WR / Miami - Surprise!!! Andy Reid had Desean Jackson in Philly and now he's got a new version in KC. Only differences are Dorsett is about 15lbs heavier and a better route runner than Jackson. He can immediately make an impact in the return game and hopefully help Alex Smith turn some of those dink&dunk passes into chunks of yardage.

19. Cleveland Browns - Eddie Goldman / DT / FSU - Goldman is a big strong man for the interior of the Cleveland DL. He can line up as a 5 Technique or as a NT in this defense. Pettine likes this kind of versatility and he will have him on the field from day one.

20. Philadelphia Eagles - Nelson Agholor / WR / USC - A lot of smoke behind this fire. Chip Kelly keeps doing his own thing in Philly.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - Malcolm Brown / DT / Texas - A disruptive force in the middle for an already solid defense. They could also go OL here, but I think they get some help for the trenches on the other side of the ball.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers - Landon Collins / S / Alabama - Troy finally hung up the cleats after a surefire HOF career. Position of need, meet best player at the position on the board.

23. Detroit Lions - Andrus Peat / OT / Stanford - The Lions need some help on the OL to help keep Stafford upright and open lanes for Joique Bell. Peat will be an immediate starter at RT for this squad.

24. Arizona Cardinals - Jordan Phillips / DT / Oklahoma - The biggest loss for Arizona this off-season was the loss of Dan Williams in the middle of that defense. Phillips is a big, run-stuffing DT who looked the part in college and the Cardinals are hoping he can play the part in the NFL.

25. Carolina Panthers - D.J. Humphries / OT / Florida - Cam took a beating last year because his OL could not consistently protect him. It doesn't matter who you have running routes if your QB doesn't have the time to find the open man. Cam personally calls the FO and says thank you.

26. Baltimore Ravens - Jaelen Strong / WR / Arizona St. - So, Torrey Smith dropped the Ravens altogether just like he dropped passes from Joe Flacco. Strong is a physical WR with decent speed to get separation and knows how to high-point the ball in the air which is why he is such a good redzone threat. Steve Smith is getting old and needs some help.

27. Carolina Panthers (via trade with Dallas) - Breshad Perriman / WR / UCF - The Panthers just got a starting OT for their OL and then jump back into the 1st to grab a starting WR to go opposite of Benjamin. Perriman is Olympic fast and will surely take the lid off defenses giving Cam another weapon. This will also open up more plays for Benjamin and Olsen in between.

28. Denver Broncos - Carl Davis / DT / Iowa - Knighton left for greener pastures in FA and now they have a gaping hole to be plugged in the middle of that defense. Carl Davis showed well through the predraft process, especially at the Senior Bowl. He will be the pick here.

29. Indianapolis Colts - Cameron Erving / OL / Florida St. - Just because it makes sense does not mean Indy and Irsay will do it. Hopefully he sees the need to protect his Franchise QB and addresses the line with an outstanding all around player like Erving who can play any position.

30. Green Bay Packers - Eric Kendricks / LB / UCLA - They just got rid of AJ Hawk and they had Clay Matthews playing on the inside last year. This pick would allow them to get Matthews back to rushing the passer and put a young, athletic LB back in the ILB group.

31. New Orleans Saints - Eli Harold / LB / Virginia - This is part of what they get for Jimmy Graham. Rob Ryan is definitely liking the looks of this draft so far after getting Danny Shelton with their first 1st Round selection.

32. New England Patriots - Laken Tomlinson / G / Duke - Tommy boy is going to need all the help he can get with us trying to kill him twice a year. The Pats* also really need help on the interior of the OL. Tomlinson is an excellent run blocker who will be there opening up holes while Legarrette smokes a...... wait..... I mean for Legarrette Blount.

Well, that's all I got for now. I have Gregory from Nebraska falling all the way out of the first for MULTIPLE reasons so that's why he's not in there. I also see us taking a LB in the 2nd surprising some people, Stephone Anthony from Clemson. He's an everydown LB to put in the middle beside Preston Brown. After that you know Doug, BPA all the way.

Im not knocking your draft.....

But I gotta ask......with a run dominant offense like we plan on playing........and no free agent pickups for the OL.....and Christ Williams and his back issues....and Cog being out of football for a year and a total wild card......

And the fact that there will be quality OG's in the 2nd round......and the fact that we already have a dominant defense.....

HOW do we not go anywhere but OL or TE with that 2nd round pick?

And it really isnt reaching for BPA if that happens to be a position of need.

We got Brown in what the 3rd round? Bradham came in what round?

One thing I would also mention.....we drafted a LB late last year who I think has a ton of potential (got better every week last year too) in Randal Johnson

If they were so content at LB then why were we supposed to be making a push for David Harris? He resigned with the Jets so it never came to be. We also have other picks than just in the 2nd Round my friend. You also forget how high they are on Henderson who should only be better coming into his 2nd year, not to mention the fact Richardson and Kuandjo will be making a 2nd year leap hopefully. We also signed Incognito in the offseason. Doug said he wanted to do more with the OL and I'm sure he will. When teams take a player that most pundits have slotted in a different position they tend to call that a "reach". It's just what happens. I have full faith and trust in Whaley to continue the process of getting us on the path to relevance in the AFC. Don't let yourself get too disappointed though if they go somewhere else other than OL or TE in the 2nd.
