mitchmurraydowntown Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Rex's total contract salary is more than all previous head coaches the Bills have employed combined during the playoff drought. I just thought that it shows an incredible level of commitment not seen in our area for a very long time, quite impressive. GO BILLS !!
DrDawkinstein Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Interesting, but I'd be more interested in some links or numbers to go along with your post.
mitchmurraydowntown Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 My own story, I ran the numbers & Rex = More.
DrDawkinstein Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 My own story, I ran the numbers & Rex = More. Sweet. Please provide those numbers. What did Williams, Mularkey, Jauron, Gailey, and Marrone make?
YoloinOhio Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Makes sense since he's the only one who had significant HC experience when hired
John from Riverside Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 In the case of coaches.....scouting........etc etc You get what you pay for And it goes further then just the ability to run a NFL offense and defense.......its also about being legit and a place that players will actually WANT to go play
CodeMonkey Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Probably figured they had to pay him enough to have him not just go to TV.
YoloinOhio Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 (edited) Probably figured they had to pay him enough to have him not just go to TV.from everything we heard,he really preferred to stay in coaching and only as a HC (Not intererestedin going back to DC). He said he thought about doing TV if he didn't land a HC opportunity, but it wasn't his first choice because he thought it would be harder to get back in with a year in TV than it would be fresh off of a HC job, and he said he knew he wasn't done. But, he says this is his last stop as a HC. Edited April 13, 2015 by YoloinOhio
KD in CA Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 My own story, I ran the numbers & Rex = More. -2 Show your work!
The Big Cat Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I believe the MSM refers to this as the "Buffalo Tax."
Direhard Fan Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I kind of have a tough time believing that. Like the idea of seeing the numbers-- please. Marrone took 4 mil just for leaving.
DrDawkinstein Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I kind of have a tough time believing that. Like the idea of seeing the numbers-- please. Marrone took 4 mil just for leaving. I'll even help OP out... Rex's deal is worth $27.5mil. We've been in the drought for 15 years. So those 5 coaches (not counting Fewell) would have to average $1.833mil/year to be at that.
Utah John Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Ralph was generous in many ways, but was convinced by his bean counter buddy Littman that he didn't need to be when it came to coaches. I don't know if Littman could even spell "football" but anyone in the league knows good coaches and front offices are the difference. Littman's departure alone should equal 2 or 3 more wins per year. Probably a little less profit but I don't think the Pegulas are eating mac and cheese every night.
Beef Jerky Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 The Bills dumpster diving for coaches is over. Hopefully the Bills won't have to look for another HC for a whole.
vegas55 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 In a league where parity rules, coaching takes on great importance. Beyond the head coach, the quality of coordinators and position coaches is critical. To acquire this expertise, you have to spend dollars, a concept completely lost on Ralph W. as he accumulated his billion dollars + fortune. This of course is reflected in the very sad win/loss record of this franchise. Enjoy it WNY, this is what it feels like when you have a real NFL owner

DrDawkinstein Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Is Littman gone?? Never heard that . Yep, he was basically a member of Ralph's "family", oversaw their financials, and worked for Mary as they got the team sold. Once Pegula came in, he left with the Wilsons.
