YoloinOhio Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) So cease and desist with your trade proposals, TRBJ! @RavensInsider: Charles Clay Bills deal: $38M, $10M bonus, $24.5M gtd, salaries $3M, $1.5M, $4.5M, $4.5M, $4.5M, has no trade clause for first three years Edited March 24, 2015 by YoloinOhio
BillnutinHouston Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Would love to know what snarky comment Omar Kelly can conjure up over this tidbit. You'd think it would leave him speechless.
Mr. WEO Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 wow...I would have thought 24.5 mil guaranteed would have done it. So, unless he's cut before 3 years, isn't he really getting 29 mil "guaranteed"?
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 don't shoot me for this comment Does no trade = he can't be cut ???
YoloinOhio Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Just a guess but could it be in there as a "poison pill" that Miami would not want to match? don't shoot me for this comment Does no trade = he can't be cut ??? no I think it's just no trade
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Just a guess but could it be in there as a "poison pill" that Miami would not want to match? no I think it's just no trade poison pill - good thought...
ddaryl Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Why? probably part of the poison pill that made it harder for Miami to sign him.
FireChan Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 probably part of the poison pill that made it harder for Miami to sign him. Why would Miami not be able to include a NTC?
YoloinOhio Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Why would Miami not be able to include a NTC?they can but my guess was that they wouldn't want to because the contract was so big and they wouldn't have any flexibility with getting out of it.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Why would Miami not be able to include a NTC? Because they may have traded him to accomodate Suh's huge cap hit in 2016 CBF
FireChan Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Because they may have traded him to accomodate Suh's huge cap hit in 2016 CBF They would've signed him to that deal for a one year rental? What if they didn't find a suitor?
Kelly the Dog Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 It just was another small reason to get Miami not to match. If Jordan Cameron did well and they decided they didn't want to pay Clay the big 2016 salary/bonus. Seems like a pretty smart move. We are not likely to want to trade him. It took us 55 years to get a TE.
YoloinOhio Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 They would've signed him to that deal for a one year rental? What if they didn't find a suitor?the Saints kind of did that with Jimmy Graham. They went through all of that with the tag and him challenging to be paid like a WR, etc, gave him that huge deal... And then a year later decided they couldn't keep him and found someone who could and got sweet return.

IMO it was a great trade for both teams. Edited March 24, 2015 by YoloinOhio
papazoid Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Why? to prevent miami from matching the offer and then turn around and trade him for something of value (cba only prevents him from being traded to the team who he signed the offer sheet with).
YoloinOhio Posted March 24, 2015 Author Posted March 24, 2015 Interesting/relevant to this thread @ProFootballTalk: Dolphins were reportedly the runners-up in the Jimmy Graham sweepstakes http://t.co/qexCkTZaz6
