Taro T Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 After the Arizona game today, the magic #'s (in points, and reflecting tiebreakers) are: Buffalo: 10 Arizona: 19 Edmonton: 24 Toronto: 27 Toronto could be eliminated tonight. In order for the tiebreaker to flip to Arizona, the Sabres would have to at least win 6 (of 8 remaining) games (including the game against Arizona) prior to a shootout while the Coyotes don't win any prior to OT but still winning 3 games. To flip the tiebreaker with the Oilers would require the Sabres winning at least 6 prior to OT with the Oilers winning 1 in a SO and losing a shootout. There aren't enough games left for TO to get the tiebreaker. So, long story short, the tiebreakers AREN'T flipping. There are currently 30 points available between Buffalo / Edmonton and Buffalo / Toronto. There are currently only 28 points available between Buffalo / Arizona. 1 H-t-H between Buffalo and Arizona and Buffalo and Toronto. No other H-t-H's between the 4 teams.
CowgirlsFan Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Once again my Stars helped the cause. They lost to Edmonton and Edmonton gained 2 points.
Alaska Darin Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 Once again my Stars helped the cause. They lost to Edmonton and Edmonton gained 2 points. Whoo hoo!
DC Tom Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 It's actually perversely exciting, seeing a Buffalo team competing for something.
Taro T Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) After all games played today, the magic #'s (in points, and reflecting tiebreakers) are: Buffalo: 8 Arizona: 19 Edmonton: 24 Toronto: ELIMINATED Toronto was eliminated tonight. In order for the tiebreaker to flip to Arizona, the Sabres would have to win at least 6 (of 7 remaining) games (including the game against Arizona) prior to a shootout while the Coyotes don't win any prior to SO but still win 3 games. To flip the tiebreaker with the Oilers would require the Sabres winning at least 6 prior to OT with the Oilers winning 1 in a SO and losing a shootout. So, long story short, the tiebreakers AREN'T flipping. There are currently 28 points available between Buffalo / Edmonton. There are currently only 26 points available between Buffalo / Arizona. 1 H-t-H between Buffalo and Arizona on Monday night. If the Sabres lose in regulation, then they can go 4-2 in their remaining 6 and still lock up 30th. No other H-t-H's between the 3 teams. Edited March 29, 2015 by Taro T
QCity Posted March 29, 2015 Author Posted March 29, 2015 The magic number is now down to 4. If Arizona beats us in regulation it will drop to 2.
Taro T Posted March 29, 2015 Posted March 29, 2015 The magic number is now down to 4. If Arizona beats us in regulation it will drop to 2. That's what the post above yours just said.
QCity Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 After the win over Arizona the Magic Number remains at 4
Buffalo Barbarian Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Way to go morons, better not screw this up
Taro T Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 After all games played through March, the magic #'s (in points, and reflecting tiebreakers) are: Buffalo: 8 Arizona: 15 Edmonton: 22 In order for the tiebreaker to flip to Arizona, the Sabres would have to win at least 5 (of 6 remaining) games prior to a shootout while the Coyotes don't win any prior to SO but still win 3 games. To flip the tiebreaker with the Oilers would require the Sabres winning all 6 prior to OT with the Oilers winning 1 in a SO and losing a shootout. So, long story short, the tiebreakers AREN'T flipping. There are currently 24 points available between Buffalo / Edmonton. There are currently only 22 points available between Buffalo / Arizona. No more H-t-H's between the 3 teams. Sabres need 3 points to break their way to eliminate Edmonton so they could go 4-1-1 and still clinch 29th regardless of what Edmonton does. Sabres control their own destiny for 30th and maintain that by going no better than 2-4-0. Tomorrow night's game is most likely a W, so in their last 5 the Sabres need to go 1-4-0 or worse. (Any points picked up by Arizona adds equally to the points the Sabres can pick up, obviously.)
QCity Posted April 2, 2015 Author Posted April 2, 2015 After the win over Toronto the Magic Number remains at 4 sigh...

BringBackFergy Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 There is one phrase that I hate as it relates to the Bills but I love as it relates to the Sabres...."just wide of the goal"
CowgirlsFan Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 There is one phrase that I hate as it relates to the Bills but I love as it relates to the Sabres...."just wide of the goal" Question...which direction of "just wide"

QCity Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Sports Club Stats still gives us an 82% shot. Fans on WGR think we're DOOMED.
CowgirlsFan Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 You know. Yep...the football one but not the hockey one.
