CodeMonkey Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 False. I just did this and there is no Web Video category in Main Menu. Just looked. (I have a Roku 1 so maybe thats why) That's what's on the Yahoo page (https://nflstream.yahoo.com/). Maybe contact them?
Max997 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) False. I just did this and there is no Web Video category in Main Menu. Just looked. (I have a Roku 1 so maybe thats why) Do you see an option to add or search for new apps? If so search for Yahoo and install it Any options for those of us who use PS3 or PS4? It wasn't on the Yahoo site, so I'm guessing not... What isn't listed on the Yahoo site? Did you even try to install the Yahoo app from the Playstation network just like you would install Netflix or any other app/channel? Edited October 21, 2015 by Max997
Just in Atlanta Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Ok. The game is going to be on TV. There is a Yahoo file that a number of people posted which lists all the ways you can watch the game on the internet. Find the file here: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/sports-news/SLN26708.html?impressions=true Problem is, for those living outside the viewing area of Buffalo’s channel 4 you won’t be able to record the game for later viewing. It seems a downgrade of the fan experience that I haven’t heard anyone adress. With everything I have to do on Sundays, I’m seldom able to sit in front of my TV before 2 or 2:30 in the afternoon. Don’t know what I would due without my DVR. This game starts at 9:30am eastern time. At that hour on a Sunday morning, if we’re not sleeping in, a lot of us are at church. Or getting the family ready for church. Not being able to record the game for viewing from the beginning when we get home, is stupid. I don’t know what the league is thinking. It’s especially unfair to Bills fans in the Rochester area. Better than 15% of season tickets holders are from Rochester. Additionally, its been said that without the support of corporate Rochester, the Bills could not survive in WNY. That is no way to treat such a large and important piece of you fan base. While I think there should be a recording feature on streaming TV to make it competitive, live sports are best live iMO. This isn't a movie; it's a live event that in my mind loses its muster when the outcome is already decided. On another note, with all the injuries, we do have one advantage: Sleep. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sleep-specialist-forecasts-bills-victory-after-looking-at-jags--london-travel-plans-144518876.html
jaybee Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Do you see an option to add or search for new apps? If so search for Yahoo and install it OK. I'm a dope. I just did a search and low and behold I found and installed Yahoo. What threw me was it said search for a movie, so I didnt realize that included apps. But I'm all good now...I think ! Lol ! I added it on the smart tv and the roku so one or both should work; if not...HDMI cable time. Thanks a bunch for the help I appreciate it. jb

Max997 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 PS3 & 4 aren't on the site and there's no app on PS4. I'm sure you tried searching for Yahoo and Yahoo Screen I know it's available on Xbox so would be surprised if it's not available on PlayStation but who knows, it is Sony
mikemac2001 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Microsoft has a solid agreement with nfl (surfaces they use for replays and coaches) So I think they might not want people using PlayStation
Snopple Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 wow sound like alot of personal problems, and whinning. Have you heard of adoption, or divorce? give those a try, buy a bottle of scotch, stay up all night with a stripper and enjoy the game.... geesh. If you can’t offer an intelligent response to my posts, maybe you shouldn’t respond at all.

They prob want their users using their app or channel that is similar to what Yahoo offers. Kind of like how Apple doesn't offer Pandora on Apple TV bc they want you to use their music app/channel
billieve420 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 TiVo Roamio/Premiere users can watch game from their unit. From TiVo Central menu go to Find TV, Music & Videos scroll down Yahoo App should be listed at the bottom.

Funny how the game is offered to other Sony smart devices, just not Playstation. I'm considering picking up a Fire Stick.

I'm considering picking up a Fire Stick. I really like the firetv stick. Only shortcoming is that unlike the Chromecast which you can plug into the wall for power or to a USB port on your TV, the FireTV stick needs wall power. Otherwise though it's great. I still don't see the Bills game showing up anywhere inside the Yahoo app yet though.

As I understand it for this game, the Yahoo app isn't there on the Chromecast itself so you have to cast from another device? And I read that if you cast from a phone or tablet the picture may not be as sharp because phone screens shrink the image- any truth to this? Whereas my understanding is the Fire TV Stick allows you to watch in the Yahoo app itself.

Whereas my understanding is the Fire TV Stick allows you to watch in the Yahoo app itself. Screen size of the device running the casting app has nothing to do with the quality of the picture on the TV. The key is that the app needs to be designed for casting because casting video running in a browser tab looks terrible. The Sunday Ticket app is designed to cast and I can cast it from my phone to a 55" TV and it actually looks pretty good. My concern is that Yahoo generally doesn't support casting, but they say they will for this game - I hope they're right.

But the FireTV stick is great, and yes the FireTV stick runs the Yahoo app itself whereas the Chromecast needs something on your network to "cast" the feed to it. Be it your phone or the Chrome browser on your desktop/tablet. Hense Chrome Cast Edited October 22, 2015 by CodeMonkey

I think I'll go with the Fire TV Stick, seems a bit more in line with the good ole K.I.S.S. method.
26CornerBlitz Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I downloaded the Yahoo app on the xbox last night and tested it with a Yahoo Sports preview of the Bills vs. Jags game. That's the route I'm going with 1st on Sunday with FireTV and Chromecast as backups.

I'd love to test their streaming.
eball Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 My choices are Apple TV with Yahoo app, or Vizio Smart TV Yahoo app. Will test both. Then again, since I believe this is going to be a football contest that sets the game back thirty years, I might just sleep in.

I actually have a FireTV, not the stick. I have yet to test the Yahoo app there, but will tonight and report back.
