Rex Ryan: We will run 50 times if we can

Recommended Posts

If harvin or clay is the alternative- sure. If we are using him as a decoy for hogan, I stand by my comment

I don't think you are using him as a decoy for Hogan but just throwing to whoever is open. If Hogan is getting one on one matchups and getting open you throw to him. If its Woods, Harvin, or Clay you throw to them. Granted if you are designing plays for a receiver or Clay Hogan is way down on the list.

I wonder how long it will take when people start complaining that Sammy Watkins isn't get the ball enough? Everyone dogged on Marrone hard for that.

I wonder how long it will take until Watkins, Woods, or Harvin (or all of them) start complaining about not getting the ball enough? Running around full speed, with nothing to do for "50 plays", might get a bit tedious, especially if the team isn't winning like expected. Not meeting contract incentives...

Now of course, someone will respond "they get paid lots of money to do what the coach tells them!", but anyone at the NFL level that is used to getting opportunities to make plays wouldn't be happy. These guys want to play, not train all year, practice all week, to get 2 or 3 throws a game coming their way.

The 2009 Jets ran the ball 38 times a game, for 172 yards a game, for 21 total rushing TD's.

Sounds good.

Sounds dull.

These are the NY Jets wide receivers on the 2009 roster.

Those are the kind of guys that accept 2 or 3 throws a week. A bunch of "I'm just happy to be here" guys, not "I wanna be the best in the game" guys.

I will be very happy if the Bills make the playoffs or more, but I hate teams that just play "kill the clock" football.

Figures. Every other team runs 40 times - beginning with the Scouting Combine in Indy. What thee heck is Rex thinking with running 50 times? It's gonna confuse the heck out of everybody. Gotta hand it to Rex. It's a pure genius move!

Rex also said he thought Geno Smith was going to be a great QB in the nfl someday.

I don't buy anything these guys say. They will run the ball and pass the ball based on the game plan and the situation. Hopefully the QB isn't throwing over 30 times a game. That would be a good thing indeed.

Do you find Seattle exciting?

Last year we literally had a game where sammy was referred to as a decoy. Sure you can accept players down the line helping keep the offense on schedule occasionally but at some point you have to feed your superstars too. Hopefully we have enough of those talents that we don't have to worry about hogan-esque players being the centerpiece

not me. the bills are building talent and they were so far behind the talent curve on offense, they have had to pay heavy "taxes" (draft choices, $$$$) to even the score with their competitors. just win and those who complain will be correctly labelled fools.....

Tyrod Taylor is a less successful Michael Vick knockoff. why don't we just get Vick then?

Because Vick is awful?

if we can

I recall a Bills Giants game where the Bills ran the ball on 20 straight offensive plays because the Giants couldn't stop them

In HS we won a game 35 to 7 without attempting a single pass

I think we are all going to realize Rex likes to say things he doesn't think all the way threw sometimes. He does this a lot when happy i think. Right now Rex is looking at his roster and thinking my GOD what a team. He knows Roman will maximize talent on the offense. Rex knows his QB is unproven and thus wants to protect his weakness by playing to his strengths.

True...

I did like the fact that Rex readily admitted the obvious...That teams are going to stack the box and try to take the run game away...Because it is obvious...and it will happen until the Bills QB (whoever it may be) makes them pay for it with consistency...

I would be far more concerned if we heard nothing but ground and pound...bully offense talk constantly...Because this is the NFL...And teams WILL adjust...We've seen it here year after year...If you can't be balanced you're in trouble...I think the Bills have peppered this offense with players that bring balance and match-up issues for defenses...So for me it's not so much about what Rex is saying (he'll never shut up regardless... :P ), the truth is in what they are doing to build a diverse offense in the absence of a franchise QB... B-)

As long as the Bills are winning everyone else can shut the !@#$ up.

I think we are all going to realize some people don't read the articles.
