Big C Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Perhaps Bills have told him they will work something out after they are done in FA? He hasn't gone on any visits that I know of and he seems to still act like part of the team, so maybe he knows something Patience, grasshopper? Maybe? Could be true, hope it's true. Love him on our team.
Matt in KC Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Spikes played less than half of the defensive snaps in 2014, didn't he? I want him back, but he's a guy I would pressure to come back with favorable terms, or move on. He is a thumper for sure, but also looked a bit slow to me.
maddenboy Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) He hasnt been offered a contract by any other team yet so there is still hope that should tell him something. CBF The FO nowadays seems to have such an excellent sense of the value of players. They sure do their homework. Edited March 18, 2015 by maddenboy
Peter Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 FWIW - I heard somewhere that Spikes and Harvin were very close in college.

He hasn't gone on any visits that I know of and he seems to still act like part of the team, so maybe he knows something Maybe he knows (1) other teams wont offer much more money, (2) other teams dont want him as a 3-down LB either, and (3) he plans to sign the Bills' offer, but just take his time about it. Things come up, like the 49ers sudden desperate need for LBs.
YoloinOhio Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 It seemed like there were "sources" indicating the Bills did indeed want him back, but on their own terms. They told him to test FA and if he didn't get what he wanted (a more prominent role/contract) then to come back and let them know. I take that to mean that there is a spot for him on this team, but they aren't going to negotiate terms.
ChanOverChin Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I agree that Spikes needs to be resigned. He's still a very good run stuffer and a great leader of men. I think the Bills still want him back, but just don't want to be able to sign him at a bargain rate.
BillsfaninSixburgh Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I like everything the Bills have done this off season except for not getting Spikes re-signed. I don't get how you sign Jordan Gay as kick-off specialist at the expense of a guy like Spikes.

I like the kick off specialist Keeps carpenters leg a little fresher and not saying bc of kicks in game but mostly practice if it takes 80% of kickoff practice away from carpenter I'm cool with it And really hurts return teams . No return or high kicks allowing coverage to get down

bonechiller Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Someone tell Spikes to sign the offer then. maybe if I vote, that will help
johnwalter Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 he quickly became one of my favorite bills. seemed like everyone in the locker room really loved the guy too. Watch the Pats snag up Spikes for cheap. no chance spikes ever plays for belichick again.
Dorkington Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 We definitely need depth at the LB position... in fact I'm not even sure who we have outside of Brown and Bradham...
boyst Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hwy triple threat - let's head to Gastonia and get this guy to ssign with us!
YoloinOhio Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 If anyone saw it, they asked him the difference between bills and pats fans. He was PC about it, but basically said bills fans were all in (reminded him of Gainesville) and in Boston they were more concerned with the Sawx and Celtics.

YoloinOhio Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 We definitely need depth at the LB position... in fact I'm not even sure who we have outside of Brown and Bradham...ty Powell at ILB and Randell Johnson at OLB, Lawson ... Not sure where he plays in this scheme yet maybe one one else does. I really think they need another ILB

I really think they need another ILB44 defense broCome on. Sam. Lawson Mike. Spikes Jack. Bradham Will. Brown. Or any mixture. Just don't forget the 44!
