I don't really understand the love that Gresham gets on this board. The only thing he has had over Chandler is career receptions, and that's only based on way more targets. They have nearly identical reception to target ratios, indicating that they have similar "hands". Chandler had more yards per receptions, more TDs per reception, more first downs per reception, and fumbled the ball less than half of the times per possession than Gresham did. Gresham also fails the eye test... he's the only tight end I can think of that looks slower than Chandler with the ball in his hands. People remember a good fantasy season a few years ago, but other than that he's the definition of "meh".

He is but other than that I tend to agree with the DasNootz. I don't think he would be an upgrade. If they don't get Clay I think it is draft or bust at TE. I wonder what the coaching staff makes of Marquise Gray? He seems to have a similar skill set to Clay actually.... but as the position stands presently on our roster he and Gragg have a big role to play.

Grey is still raw and a poor blocker. has some speed and hands but not developed as a player. dont depend on him.

The better blocker part might make all the difference to the Bills though. People say Scott Chandler would be a good #2TE, well wouldn't he be better if he had Gresham's blocking skills? Could a Clay/Gresham combo be possible?

Curious to see if the price tag on him is lower then expected due to this back injury news.

i think he would be more of a replacement for Lee Smith.

Fans have heard of him because of fantasy football and think he's "good". They also see him as a cheaper alternative to Clay, and those who are worried we won't improve our O-line prefer spending less on TE and spending more on OG. Thus Gresham was the guy they preferred.

@ProFootballTalk: Report: Bills were interested in Jermaine Gresham before back surgery http://t.co/JXGhIO47e2

Interesting. We'll have to see what his availability is around July.

As damaged goods, he'd likely be cheap and might be had for a one-year "prove it" type deal...

this is an old thread that I updated just now. It was the first Gresham thread from 3/17. Sorry for any confusion.

Lol. I still think Gresham could be a target depending on what they do in the draft. Need another TE.
