prissythecat Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Except that he won the heisman trophy and took his team to the playoffs and has won at every level. He cant be all that bad. Football is about more than just stats. Sounds a lot like another qb we used to have that could never get a fair shot (Flutie) Lots of failed QBs in the NFL won the Heisman and won at every level. Heisman is just not a good indicator of success for NFL. Stats are an objective way to look at performance. By most measures, Tebow comes up way short. That is unless 4th Qtr QBR becomes a legit way to measure QBs
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Well he does wholeheartedly believe that if you don't believe like he does you will burn and rot for eternity in fiery hell, but there is no hate in that. I don't respect people who don't proselytize. If you believe that there is a heaven or hell, or that people could be going to hell, or not get eternal life, and you think its not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward, and atheists think people shouldn't proselytize, just keep religion to yourself. How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that? -Penn Jillette, militant atheist. Kelly the Dog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 You realize that Penn Jillette is a comedian that sets his best friend and partner on fire, right?

If anything winning a Heisman is the kiss of death for QBs.

He's actually a very smart guy though. Read some of his blogs. He also had his Showtime show Call Bull###t that was really interesting.
Kelly the Dog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 He's actually a very smart guy though. Read some of his blogs. He also had his Showtime show Call Bull###t that was really interesting. Agreed. I was a little curious though that you quoted a guy who 100% believes there is no God, and yet is cool with anyone who does, to prove a point about anyone not believing in God makes you burn in hell for eternity.
Garranimal Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Lots of failed QBs in the NFL won the Heisman and won at every level. Heisman is just not a good indicator of success for NFL. Stats are an objective way to look at performance. By most measures, Tebow comes up way short. That is unless 4th Qtr QBR becomes a legit way to measure QBs From a statistical stand-point.....measurements that change dramatically under similar conditions are significant. I know that is sooooo hard to grasp, but it really is very simple. It is no different than monitoring a process that consistently produces the same results (in this case, poor results) and then you change a variable and get a completely different result that is repeatable.... it is then significant. Your problem is that you act like I have said his 4th qtr QBR in one game is significant (that would actually be an outlier). I am not, his 4th qtr QBR for an entire season (11 games) is the stat I have mentioned and it clearly has significance. Considering that ALL QBs are graded using the same QBR parameters (whether you think it sucks or not) suggests that the evaluation does have some degree of intuitive results. Not sure that I can distill that any further. Come to think of it, since you made the comment....besides completion percentage what other statistical indicator are you referring to? YPA? YPC? TD/INT ratio? NFL passing records? Now do you want to continue coming after me specifically? Edited March 19, 2015 by Garranimal

I was a little curious though that you quoted a guy who 100% believes there is no God, and yet is cool with anyone who does, to prove a point about anyone not believing in God makes you burn in hell for eternity. Because it's a source that's isn't only biased towards any sort of Christian or religion, but is absolutely against it. That even though he doesn't agree that there is an afterlife, that if someone genuinely believes there is one, and isn't warning people of it, is a truly terrible person. He doesn't believe that what they're saying is true, however he thinks it's a loving act of someone to tell him about it anyway.

Do you have a single instance where Tebow has been involved in any action that demonstrates hate? The pope has very similar beliefs and makes a general habit out or promoting those beliefs, but I can't recall anyone accusing him of being hateful.

I was a little curious though that you quoted a guy who 100% believes there is no God, and yet is cool with anyone who does, to prove a point about anyone not believing in God makes you burn in hell for eternity. And to further clarify, I'm not here to make a point that not Believing in God makes you go to hell, just saying that telling/warning people of it doesn't mean it's a hateful action.
Kelly the Dog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 And to further clarify, I'm not here to make a point that not Believing in God makes you go to hell, just saying that telling/warning people of it doesn't mean it's a hateful action. I understand, and you're cool about it. it's an interesting discussion, and something Jillette encourages. But he is tolerant of others beliefs and thinks everyone should believe what they want to believe, and Christianity by definition and Tebow are intolerant. They say you rot in hell if you don't believe. But I am done with this discussion, good luck to you and whatever your beliefs are, we just got Charles Clay! There is a God!
Nanker Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Exactly. I'm opining that Tebow sucks and that, even though the Broncos were able to come back a handful of times, it was NOT because of anything Tebow did. I believe that anyone who thinks Tim Tebow adds anything positive to an NFL team that would like to win games would have to be a moron. Right. http://youtu.be/LQ0UOxrcS2Q Finally. FINALLY!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure if this was already stated, but he could have just been an arm throwing to someone for a workout... Not necessarily a prospect workout... Could also be a favor... getting his name out there for interest. Tebow has been working with a QB coach and Chip is a nice guy... just don't ask Shady Can you imagine Shanchize's reaction! If Tebow wasn't so ego driven to play in the NFL so he can further his brand, he would try to show people by playing in the CFL... But that is beneath Tebow. No. It's just that God hates Canadians. It's now the official Last Post Wins thread. Part IV He's not good enough for the CFL, either. One thing Tebow is not, is stupid. He knows if he goes to the CFL and sucks (which would be very likely) that his dream of being in the NFL, in front of all of those cameras, would be over forever. It was a second chance because he could have proven that he was the best QB on the team. He failed to do that. He did, however, prove that his is likely the worst QB in the history of the league to waste a spot on a 53-man roster. Flutie didn't lead anything. If Flutie showed anybody watching ANYTHING .. it was that he was not a leader. Flutie was horrible. Correct. He gets the brass ring for being arrogant and self centered. He called him smart in the post you quoted. You are correct about Mr. Gugny's strong dislike for TIMTEBOW!!! though, seems personal to me. I wonder why? Me too. Did Tim not favor him with an audience, or turned down an opportunity to speak at his church? Edited March 19, 2015 by Nanker

Penn actually use to be a real jerk about it. But he's actually changed a lot and became friends with Glenn Beck. But yes, we have a real TE. If that, and beer, isn't proof there's a God who loves us, what is?
Kelly the Dog Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 But yes, we have a real TE. If that, and beer, isn't proof there's a God who loves us, what is? The first 54 years of the Bills existence?
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 The first 54 years of the Bills existence? Truth. And for those saying that that's proof to the contrary, God has been testing our patience.
MDH Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 that doesn't sound like hate. sounds like concern. if you believed that aliens were coming to destroy the earth and the only way to save yourself was to eat jelly beans wouldn't you be telling everyone that would listen that they should stock up on jelly beans? What if I fully supported the aliens and their right to annihilate the earth, is that hateful?
K D Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 What if I fully supported the aliens and their right to annihilate the earth, is that hateful? it depends. is the annihilation of earth for the greater good of the universe? then i might lean that way as well. if it is because you are spiteful and dislike all of humanity then that would be hateful. i tend to like earth though. it's where i keep all of my stuff
