Azalin Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 He was probably my favorite author. I had the opportunity to meet him at a book signing in Austin a number of years ago, and was nervous as hell, but he was genuine, funny, kind, and appreciative, which made my appreciation of the man grow even stronger. If you're a fan of fantasy stories and you've never read one of his many Discworld novels, I highly recommend them. He can be compared to Douglas Adams in that what Adams did for science fiction, Pratchett did for fantasy, but in my opinion, Pratchett was much funnier. He died of Posterior Cortical Atrophy, a rare form of Alzheimer's which withers and shrinks the rear portions of the brain. He was only 66. http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-31858156
