Mike in Horseheads Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 This is a telltale sign that Marrone is a bozo. Pears was a serviceable RT. Marrone changes the blocking scheme and moves Pears to guard, where he is a failure. Apparently, there are other teams out there that think he is still a decent RT, and recognize what Marrone did to him. Lord knows what other damage "moron" did. He ruined Spiller, The OL line and IMHO EJ. Hopefully with a decent coach EJ can turn it around.

Also, given that the FO has not done a ton w/ the OL this offseason, makes me think that the new coaches and Whaley believe that the O-line is not that far off.
Niagara Dude Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 49ers must be undergoing a full re-build if they are signing him! The guy is too tall for inside and too slow for outside, maybe he signed today and will be lucky to make the team.Great news for Bills fans that we don't have to see on our team.

Moving him inside to Guard made no sense at all. The 49'ers got a decent RT who has been in the league for a long time and still has some game left in him. I wish him well.
eball Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 The 49ers are quickly becoming a dumpster fire. That front office, that head coach...good god.
LedyardCTbillsfan Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 The 49ers are quickly becoming a dumpster fire. That front office, that head coach...good god. It's a shame their roster was loaded at one point, hope it doesn't happen to us. Don't think it will though.
Bleed Bills Blue Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 Niners sign Erik Pears (do we owe them any compensatory picks?) JK, thanks for some memorable games and enjoy the new lifestyle out in San Fran.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: If I *had* to attribute one player to #Bills not going 10-6 / making playoffs in 2015...it'd be Erik Pears. He's an All-Pro play killer. Opinion of Trapasso just dropped. It's silly to attribute Bills record to one player. And if it weren't silly, it would be silly to attribute it to Pears, who is not the one who decided to move himself to guard. This is a telltale sign that Marrone is a bozo. Pears was a serviceable RT. Marrone changes the blocking scheme and moves Pears to guard, where he is a failure. Don Beebe Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 @caplannfl: OT Erik Pears has agreed to a two-year deal with the #49ers, according to his agent, Jeff Sperbeck. They go from Lou Potty to a Port-a-Potty OMG! We lost Pears? Who is going to play guard next year?

He needs to go back to RT on a good OL and he would be better. Marrone needed a good LG to replace Levitre but he made a mess of the whole line instead. Edited March 16, 2015 by ALF
Nanker Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I never trust a guy who spells Eric with a "k." That's bad parenting. I wish him and all ex-Bills who were hosed by the past regime get a chance to redeem themselves. Go Bills!
bladiebla Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Pears is a good backup RT with experience at all other positions so solid depth signing by the niners I'd say.
BigPappy Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 That's absurd and impossible to know. Hey! I'm already 5x the failure he is...LOL! BigPappy
