CountryCletus Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Ryan Matthews reportedly had a deal in place, 3 years $12M... CJ was allegedly offered $4.5M/yr and turned it down. Personally I feel that Matthews is a better back, both have injury history....

Personally I feel that Matthews is a better back, both have injury history.... CJ is a much, much better back than RM in my opinion. If he lands in the right system with a decent line and an OC who know how to get him the ball with a little space, I'd expect to see a big resurgence from our soon to be former running back.
KD in CA Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I think $4MM+ for either of those guys is insanity.

I think they are comperable.... Both have injury concerns, both have proven capable.... Matthews is the better all around back... He can take it up the middle, hit the outside, catch passes and pass pro.... CJ couldn't get the short yardage, pass protect, or hit it up the middle without dancing around.... Do I think CJ has the ability to finally "get it" and become something special? Sure.... Looking at the body of work for both of these guys up to this point- I have to give the nod to RM My point was that RM had a deal in place for $4M a year and CJ turned down $4.5M from us... I hope CJ gets a crap contract after poorly evaluating his worth
