"I'm originally from a poor, lead-mining town in Missouri, and I know a lot of the people there don't understand why I'm doing this," she said. "Even my family is pretty disappointed. And the fact is, it makes me pretty sad, too. But I just can't bear to pay taxes in the United States right now."

This idiot broad's going to be shocked when she sees her first Canadian taxes paid.

I would hazard a guess that her bigger concern is where her money is going.

Really? I doubt it. If you are so desperate that you are moving to another country because you think it will improve your financial situation, I'd guess that the concern is your bottom line, rather than in the specifics of whichever gov't is pissing away your money.

Canadiens are lucky that we're their neighbor.  They were able to completely gut their military to spend the money on socialistic programs because they don't have to worry about their national defense.

Plus, the NHL would be awfully boring with just Les Habs, the Leafs and the Senators...

...of course, the way the league's going, we may see that yet...

I'm still pissed that the friggin' Nords moved. It used to be a ball to watch the Frogs get all up in arms with each other.

Again, considering her POV, I think she's saying that she can't bear to pay taxes in the USA because she disagrees with where those taxes are going. I don't for one second think that she believes her taxes will be less.

Of course, how should I know what she thinks.

"Vote with your feet." Singapore, here I come.

She could always take the Arthur Farnsworth route, and just not pay any of her taxes.

Having grown up in Canada and being a dual citizen, I have the unique perspective of seeing the USA from a more neutral perspective. I think that most people outside of the USA cannot understand the USA's obsession with inter-jecting in other countries affairs. They(Other countries) have a leave em alone attitude unless there is a clear and present danger presenting itself.

And as for land of the free, the government sure tells me how to live my life quite a bit. Dont get me wrong, I love living here and have no plans of moving ever. I prefer to try and vote for candidates that share goals similar to mine.

Hopefully our country can survive the loss of such brave people who stand up for what they believe in by running away.

She'd fit in well with all the Frenchies in Montreal. They know a thing or two about running away.

That says nothing about whether or not she can't bear it financially.

In fact, it seemed more like she can't bear the thought of her tax money being spent by this administration...particularly given that she's moving to a country with much higher taxes.

Like I replied to John, I didn't read it that way. Clearly she could be speaking either from a financial or emotional standpoint. Only she knows for sure.

I replied before I read that.

So you had to read it twice. Big f'n deal. It's not like reading "Bledsoe sucks!" thirty thousand times...
