Gresham blows, that's why

Why is everyone getting pissed at Clay?...he has 3 teams that want him and he's trying to get the best deal. Plus as far as anyone knows...he has yet to receive a contract offer from the Bills or Browns

Gresham doesn't blow, at all.

but what if the Bills don't want to guarantee that much money?

Then they aren't going to get him. They are going to have to overpay some of they want to have a chance. He's getting at least $7M a year with the transition tag already. You either want the guy and you come strong and try to get him to sign an offer sheet that is tough for Miami to match or you watch him negotiate with only Miami. If he signs that, even if Miami matches you have hurt the Dolphins.

Wow, that's huge for us.

Wasn't Miami looking at Cameron? Wouldn't this just push them more to resign Clay or Match any offer the bills *may* eventually make?

If they can match it, probably. But that's always been the game between the two teams, the Bills' goal is to make it as difficult as possible for the fins to match -- that assumes he wants to be in Buffalo though. He might want to stay in Miami.

Or that's an indication that Miami is going to lock-up Clay.

Well it does take a potential team with more cap space out of the race for him, but yeah, that could certainly happen.

Also there's the possibility he never intended to leave Miami in the first place...

He is a flat out great blocker and a pretty good receiver.

Again, I disagree....that's all. He's not really great at anything...I wouldn't be upset if we signed him but wouldn't get excited either

The Browns may have realized they weren't going to get clay because of Bills and fins. Or it could be that fins don't have 15 m to spend in two years. Or it could mean he thinks Fins are going to get Clay. We just don't know how much fins can spend or willing to spend for clay.

Yep. I believe someone else has already alluded to the fact that we may have been bamboozled by the ol' "house shopping" ruse.

Over on Finheaven, they're pretty much bashing the hell out of Buffalo and convinced that there is no chance Clay is signing with Buffalo. One recent post:

I heard Doug Whaley's conversation with Miller and Kirwin while on the road. Kirwin asked Whaley about the Clay situation on his last question. Let me put it this way, I don't think there's any chance of Clay going to Buffalo and Whaley knows this. Whaley's tone and demeanor were very much reserved when answering the question compared to the rest of the interview. But his biggest tell was his mistake (albeit subconsciously) in verbal tense. Toward the end of his comment when explaining that Clay left without an offer he attempted to play it off that they had a good interview, liked what they spoke of but decided not to provide an offer at that time to him....then his subconscious thought slipped through when he said the whole process was just something they HAD to do. Not only did he use "had", which means it is in the past and most likely over and not to be revisited, but his speech trailed off to a lower tone as he spoke. Those are two strong cues in expression that say you aren't happy with how things turned out and it's probably a closed matter

More reason to hate Miami and their "fans".

He's average on a good day with hands of stone. Not what the Bills need, IMO.

So what you are saying is a 26 year old 2 time pro bowler is just average "on a good day" ?

This is actually quite impressive. I didn't even know there were enough dolphin fans for an actual internet site. Plus, this one knows who Clay is, which is also quite surprising. Edited by JR in Pittsburgh

Like nucci said upthread, he's nothing special. So what you are saying is that Pro Bowls mean something?:lol:

Until we're a proven winner, guss the only way to land guys is to trade for them. Further evidence:

@JuMosq: I'm sure this is already out there, but Brandt said Bulaga had an offer for more money in Buffalo on the Football Today pod.
