NoSaint Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 He is now making more than Chandler...amazing. the raiders literally have to spend the money on someone.
Kirby Jackson Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 The worst signing of the offseason is already secured.
C.Biscuit97 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Just gonna leave this here  @caplannfl: #Raiders to sign TE Lee Smith. Really good blocking TE. 3 years, over $9 M. Lee Smith gets $3 million dollars to play football??????  America is both the best and worst country ever.
Kelly the Dog Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Breaking news. The Raiders are the Raiders. Â Rumor has it that Mark Davis was asleep last night and was convinced he saw a vision of his dad yelling, "Mark! Mark! Wake up, buddy! I got a GREAT one!"
dezertbill Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Russell Wilson's 2015 salary is $1,542,000  Lee Smith is making twiice that much  Let that sink in for a second

ExWNYer Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Thanks for your service to the Buffalo Bills. Buh-bye...

JK and congrats to him for gettinn paid millions to play football. I don't know how but I respect his hustle.
frogger Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I was watching a thing on the worse free agent signings on the NFL channel last night. When it came to the raiders...well here's proof, they give 3 million dollars to a 2nd TE, who played 2nd TE to chandler...who we think is a 2nd TE
Rob's House Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I know some of you guys know more about this stuff than I do, but I have to believe a guy who was valued by 2 separate coaching regimes here, and apparently a 3rd now in Oakland, doesn't suck.
Dennis in NC Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 It's great that Lee Smith is a great contributor to charities in the community. Â I'm sure the charities will get a "cut" of his new riches. Â Straight ahead, brother!
nucci Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I know some of you guys know more about this stuff than I do, but I have to believe a guy who was valued by 2 separate coaching regimes here, and apparently a 3rd now in Oakland, doesn't suck. You're assuming all coaches are smart
Rob's House Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 You're assuming all coaches are smart Not all, but when multiple unrelated coaches think a guy is good I think there might be something to it.
Kirby Jackson Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Not all, but when multiple unrelated coaches think a guy is good I think there might be something to it.I think that it has more to do with Oakland needing to get to the cap floor.
Malazan Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Not all, but when multiple unrelated coaches think a guy is good I think there might be something to it. Â to be fair, multiple unrelated coaches who didn't have success.
LB3 Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Lee Smith is absolutely a better blocker than he is given credit for on this site. As a receiving option he's a nightmare.
NoSaint Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Lee Smith is absolutely a better blocker than he is given credit for on this site. As a receiving option he's a nightmare. The problem is there are tackles more dynamic in the passing game and compared to them he's not very good at blocking. He's a better than average blocker as a tight end though...
Kirby Jackson Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Lee Smith is absolutely a better blocker than he is given credit for on this site. As a receiving option he's a nightmare.Thats the point. He is an above average blocker for a TE but nowhere near as good as an OL. Since he is ZERO threat in the passing game you are better off playing an extra OL. It kind of makes him useless. Edited March 11, 2015 by Kirby Jackson

NoSaint Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 He never has to declare as eligible though. That can be advantageous. Vs declaring the 3rd tackle eligible 100% of the time? What's the advantage? Less announcements from the refs interfering with the in stadium ads?
