outside the stiff arm run he was under 4.0 yards per cary when healthy and under 3.5 ypc for the year. outside of the one run his long was also 17 yards. granted behind a terrible line, but if you didnt LOVE the person, it would be a hard season to hype.

he could fill a niche role, but at this point hes a specialist, and not a special teamer which sometimes makes it a tough spot when constructing a 45 man game day roster.

Those are overly simple and meaningless stats without context. Not many players could have been successful with that dumpster fire of an offense last year.

Even on that big run in Chicago in OT, there was a blocking assignment missed by the guard that Wood made up for with his own stiff arm to the rusher. The line was absolutely atrocious this past season.

According to Graham, they want him to restructure.

Seems like a money thing to me, they don't think Fred is worth what he is making considering how many touches he'll get going forward. McCoy will be getting the bulk of the touches with Dixon being the power back. Both Dixon/Brown can contribute to ST which Fred can't.

seems like a reasonable request from the FO to me. On the other hand, the FO signed him to this deal knowing full well how old he would be. I'm fine w/ the restructure request as long as he gets all the money in the deal he would have received.

Bring back Easley!

Good point. Any word on him. Was a ST beast and I think could become a contributing WR (like Hogan has become).

Take away Spillers 53 yarder and Titties' big run in the Chicago game (that contributed nothing) and they're in the same boat. Prior to his injury he was arguably the best player on offense. He'd pick up 3 on first down where Spiller would get -1 and he was great in the receiving game. It wasn't the stuff MVP seasons and highlight reels are made of, but it was the stuff that helps win games. Edited by Rob's House

Yes - they are in talks to sign him but others interested.

You've never been to SabreSpace, I take it.

Sorry, did I need to be more specific?

What happens when he refuses to re-structure? How long did Freddy wait for his big pay day?

The problem with Fred is that: He Needs His Turn. This is just a repeat of the Lynch saga.

What does that even mean?

When the Bills screwed him two or three times?

I'm not sure you're using quite the correct terminology.

Fred has 1 year left on his contract, so there's nothing to restructure. He could take a pay cut (if asked), sign an extension, or be released.

I also find the Lynch comparison to be ludicrous; no offense.

Bryce Brown is Lynch? Or by repeat of the Lynch saga, do you mean we will keep Fred and he will have a MVP season?

Damn, was hoping he'd be an under the radar guy that we could wait until Friday or so to sign. Thanks for the info

Even in his best days Freddy could never outrun the defense, he is a step slower but he still is a smart, shifty runner and throughout the year fought for extra yardage. I certainly don't feel he fell off the cliff last year. I think this 2015 will be his last but that he will still be effective when needed. I also think Freddy's a man of principle and if he sees on tape that he's not getting it done, he'll retire or go elsewhere.

As of early afternoon, personnel execs I spoke with from 4 teams were under the impression Fred Jackson was or would be available

They should now be asking for Bryce Brown availability. Would be nice to get the 4th rd back. Effectively a free one-yr rental.

I actually think FJ will be a great role player this year...

1.) He may be ancient in terns of an RB, but he has A LOT less mileage on him than others at this age

2.) He was never the fastest, but he knows how to wait for a play to develop and can will himself to get more yards than he should

3.) He can pass-block

4.) He can still catch the ball

5.) He can keep moving forward

6.) He has a good stiff arm

7.) Will be even more effective with a reduced role - less wear and tear and fresher through out the season. This should help him hit some big gainers late in the game...

Because they have twitter accounts.

:thumbsup::lol:

I would keep Brown, but wouldn't waste time on Powell...
