BillsFan-4-Ever Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 If Fred is cut, maybe the Bills will resign him for the league minimum. Possible. I'd be OK with that. The day Fast Freddy leaves will be a sad day indeed Why not just negotiate a pay cut...no need to release him first even better
YoloinOhio Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Why not just negotiate a pay cut...no need to release him firstmay not be all about the money though. He's the odd man out if brown is the #2 and they want Dixon for ST and can be replaced with the younger Powell in terms of effectiveness on the field.
nucci Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 may not be all about the money though. Yep, I get that.....just responding to others about his contract....new coaching staff...different philosophies....still sad but the games go on.
YoloinOhio Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Yep, I get that.....just responding to others about his contract....new coaching staff...different philosophies....still sad but the games go on.yeah. Sometimes change sucks.
Beerball Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Fred has always been written off. That's nothing new. It's the story of his life. But if given the chance not only would he have been the #2 guy on the team but I bet he would have had almost as many carries as everyone's new favorite RB. It happens every year. He shouldn't be able to, but the guy defies all things and has been the heart and soul of this team for the past almost decade. This is terrible and I can understand why they would do it. If you look at this on paper then it makes sense. But you can't look at Fred on paper because nothing he has done should have been possible. This is where analytics fail. There's things inside a man that you can't measure: heart, desire, determination, passion, leadership, and the ability to make plays when there is no play to be had. They are making a mistake if they release him. My hope is that someone gives him a chance, whether it's us or another team. A chance is the only thing Fred has ever needed in order to prove everyone wrong. I've been a Bills fan my whole life but I would openly root for Fred on whatever team he is on. He deserves better from us. He deserves a chance Well said diggz. I've resigned myself to the fact that this rumor is true, but, I would be overjoyed to find out it's not. Heart & Soul

Beerball Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Kiko thrived in Pettine's Rex style defense Stay on topic please.
Storm Front Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It would stink if they release him. It would be like how they treated Bruce, Andre and Thurman. The Bills should just see if they can get Freddy to take a pay cut.
mikemac2001 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Stay on topic please. That makes no sense though Why not join a fred thread to talk about kiko
Beerball Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 No question Freddie's production took a hit after he rushed back from his groin to help a depleted RB corps. But if Rex watched his first seven games, he saw a guy averaging 4.3 ypc that looked a lot like the Action Jackson of the past few years. Also, if Fred was in such 'decline,' how come he got 86 carries after he returned (3.3 ypc) to 35 for Brown (3.5 ypc)? Well, If Freddy wasn't a player we love we'd blame it on Marrone, wouldn't we?
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 The thing that is irritating about this potential cut is it seems to be a cut in order to sign bilal Powell-- who probably wouldn't even be active on gamedays.
DrDawkinstein Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 then keep him as a return specialist! Thats what he looked worst at last year. Im all for keeping him as a backup option, or coach. It's tough to count him out, all I think about is that run against the Bears... He may have lost a step but he's still a man amongst boys.
YoloinOhio Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Another example is Andre Johnson in Houston The thing that is irritating about this potential cut is it seems to be a cut in order to sign bilal Powell-- who probably wouldn't even be active on gamedays.the word is the two moves would not necessarily be related
Punch Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Joe Buscaglia just said on WGR this morning that if Fred is cut, there will be interest from several "winning franchises", including perhaps New England. If that's true, why isn't he good enough for the Bills? Then again, it's more than likely other teams haven't pored over his game film from last year to the extent that Rex and the Bills coaches have.
Big Turk Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 Ugh. I've been afraid of this. Given his age and cap hit and lack of dead money it's sort of an obvious (albeit unpopular) move for the Bills. I hope he gets picked up by a good team and gets to keep playing. By the way Matter I appreciate how you post, acknowledging that you heard from a source but not writing as though you're on the inside then "imo"ing Dude, this is a business. If the Pats will pay him and play him he'd be silly not to go - for the sake of his family. Yeah, I mean Thurman played for the Dolphins at one point...
Dorkington Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Well said diggz. I've resigned myself to the fact that this rumor is true, but, I would be overjoyed to find out it's not. Heart & Soul Ditto.
PortlandiaEast Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 It stinks for all of us bc Fred has always been a bright spot for the last 8(?) years. Rex and the new FO do not have the attachment to Fred that we do. He can't play forever, and we just signed McCoy... If its true - It stinks, but I get it and will continue to support the team.
Dr Doom Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 I had to happen! You guys hoping he should stay on the team are living in the past. They guy has lost a step. Let him go and respect and appreciate what he has done in his time here.
Buftex Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) yeah. Sometimes change sucks. will be very sad to see Fred go, no doubt. But remember, most of us lived through a day, a little over 15 years ago, when Bruce Smith, Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas all became "former Buffalo Bills". It seemed unfathomable...but we trudged on...and so did they. Edited March 9, 2015 by Buftex
