CJPearl2 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Top FA guard available. He just made his third straight pro bowl. Pay him and fix a major problem.

RuntheDamnBall Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Top FA guard available. He just made his third straight pro bowl. Pay him and fix a major problem. There's a real chance given that his HC just left and his team will have a new philosophy. Â However, we'd do well to remember that players call the shots in FA and you cannot make someone sign with you. It's a combo of offering the best money and getting a buy-in to what you're doing.
TPS Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Can we sign him, Hughes and Dareus? Does Dareus need to be signed this year? I think they have him for one more? Regardless, I think they have the space especially if they let Pears go.
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Can we sign him, Hughes and Dareus? Â Good question. Dareus is the highest priority as the anchor of our defense. As much as I like Hughes, a downgrade in edge rushing would be worth a significant boost in the interior OL play.
CJPearl2 Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 I thought there was a team option on Dareus. With the new cap we can easily resign Hughes and sign a top guard like Iupati. Plus, Pegula won't be hesitate to spend if he can get a top player to fill a real hole.

I believe this is pretty close how Titans fans felt about Levitre 2 seasons ago. The most recognizable name is not always the best option. Just keeping an open mind here.

Levitre was a converted tackle who definitely works situationally, but isn't a fit for a team seeking big maulers.
Wayne Cubed Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 No thanks. He'll want a boat load of money and with all the players the Bills need to resign I'd rather they spent the money there. Guards, good ones, can be found all over the draft.
CJPearl2 Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 Big difference. Iupati may be best in league.
TPS Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Not next year but you still have to factor in his deal. I think they will let Pears, Rivers, Lawson, and Spikes walk. That frees up another $10 mil., and they are projected to have $17 m available in cap space prior to those moves. They'll need to sign Searcy, Bryant, Wynn, Easely, Hogan, and Hairston. That'll probably cost them around $4mil above their current salaries. Hughes has a $4mil hit this year, so what will it take to sign him? Another $5mil? That leaves a lot of space to sign some other FAs. I assume Iupati would cost about $7-8 mil?

Bangarang Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Iupati at LG and Kouandjio at RG. Let's run it down people's throats and allow that to open up the passing game. Edited December 29, 2014 by Bangarang

Something to keep in mind.

truth on hold Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) Id like to see that money spent on 2-3 guys. We need more than 1 starter and we need depth. Also paying one guy exposes us to too much injury risk Edited December 29, 2014 by JTSP
Augie Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 We have a lot of our own guys who need to be paid, but a Pro Bowl guard just might be helpful. I trust Whaley for these calls.
