Chef Jim
This really bothers you? Why? Because I hate Muslims. No why show special treatment to a specific religion? Sure, sure we celebrate Christmas and Easter but why add Islamic holidays too? Give me a good reason why this needs to be done? BTW do they even call them Christmas and Easter break? I assume they are called winter and spring break. Edited March 5, 2015 by Chef Jim
Dante
This really bothers you? Why? He didn't say it bothers him. I think he's wondering why the Muslim religion is given priority treatment over the others he mentioned. Since you want to deflect instead of answering I'll give it a shot. I think it's part of the plan to dilute the traditional, historic christian culture of the country and turn it into what I don't know. Obama and his operatives like DiBlasio hate the history and it's roots in christianity so much they will do anything to marginalize it. And there is more to it. Barrys dad and step dad were muslim so it kind figures he would trend that way anyway. Just like they were both hard core socialists so of course Barry trends that way to. Seems natural enough. I'm sure there are more reasons as well.
KD in CA
BTW do they even call them Christmas and Easter break? I assume they are called winter and spring break. Correct. No reference at all to Christmas or Easter in schools. Amazingly though....my Kindergartener celebrated Valentine's Day in school. I'm going to guess someone in the Superintendent's office failed to realize Valentine was a Christian saint.

Chef Jim
We had Jewish holidays off at UB and I don't remember anyone complaining You're comparing a university where you pay a fee to go. Where you've made the decision to go. Where you could have said "I don't like Jews and they have Jewish holidays so I'm going to another university" to the NYC public school system? ....lybob
What are the percentages of students of Christian, Jewish , Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist faith in the NYC public schools? do they lose funding when students are absent? my guess is the answer to those two questions will answer who gets Holidays. So a child or their parents can choose from hundreds of schools to attend? So you're saying you pay for schooling via taxes but healthcare if free? Got it. Chef Jim
Parents all the time choose to move into districts because of the schools. Still don't see why you are howling at the moon over this. Why does it bother you so much? Some parents do but most don't have the ability to move and are stuck with the school in their district. It bothers me because when does it end? You never answered why they need to add holidays to the school calendar. Religious holidays to boot. Aren't Y\you progressives the one's always crying about keeping religion out of schools. But because a conservative has an issue with it now you're ok with it. Do you ever think on your own?
