Jim in Anchorage Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Buffalo is in WNY. It doesn't hurt my feelings when ignorant people call it upstate. And calling it upstate does not make it so, regardless of how often ignorant people do it. The NYC folks may think they're the center of the universe, but I don't care. And we're the only NFL team in NY state. Period. Now, back to football? Really. It's so hard to find anything football related on this forum.
MDH Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 He lost me at "young and reckless EJ Manuel" Same. It's almost like he's never seen EJ play.
8-8 Forever? Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Poor article, IMO. Just another uninformed Boston writer spewing insults against what he perceives is an inferior city. that is the national perception. get used to it, even if the Bills become a winner again, the "reflected glory" affect will not happen when it comes to the area. that will be the media's fall back position, if the team is good, then the stories will focus on how sucky the area is. watch for it. it will happen, especially out of AFC East writers.
Fleetwood Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Borges is a plagiarizing tool. That being said, in my years in the Buffalo region (around the AFC Champs years) it was always Western New York, not Upstate.
Mickey Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Wow the things that make people made and get their goat. Upstate, really? This IS upstate NY. The term is used because New York is generally used for the large powerful city known as New York City. Upstate differentiates from NYC and is widely used and accepted. That simple. Get over your inferiority complex and deal with it. Buffalo can't carry NYC's lunch. We're not even a top tier city in this country, deal with it. Accept the truth. And if you are referencing the area outside of NYC, "Upstate" is a lot easier than saying the "capitol region, the adirondacks, the southern tier, central new york, mohawk valley, western new york, the route 81 corridor and watertown"
