YoloinOhio Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Pats not picking up his option @wilfork75: Morning guys ... Please read below this will be my only statement http://t.co/gClv03hqet Edited March 5, 2015 by YoloinOhio
sodbuster Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I figured thus was happening last year, so I'm not surprised. Although, terrible timing for them since the Bills are ramping up their run game.
YoloinOhio Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: Wilfork finished the '14 regular season with a +14.0 @PFF run-stopping grade (on position page it says +15) He's remained a key piece in NE. @RapSheet: Can I still play football? Hell yea! Do I still love football? Hell yea. Former #Patriots DT Vince Wilfork
Chuck Wagon Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 NE moving on from anyone gives you pause, but I do think he's exactly the type of guy we need to plug into the middle of our defense if we really want to transition to more of a true 3-4. We lack a true NT, I worry about Kyle W. holding up in that position and I think it limits Dareus's effectiveness a bit.
RealityCheck Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Doug Whaley. If it's a no go on Hughes, please make a run for the big man. He and Dareus in the middle of the D-line makes for he #1 defense in the NFL for 2015. Case closed. I know you'll do the right thing Mr. Whaley.
truth on hold Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 he was so bad last year, they really won in spite of him
Dorkington Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 He's one of the best in his prime, but unfortunately I don't think he's worth much at this point in his career.
The Poojer Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 the patriots seem to be masters at dropping players at the exact right time....
YoloinOhio Posted March 5, 2015 Author Posted March 5, 2015 the patriots seem to be masters at dropping players at the exact right time....Saves them a much-needed 8m on their cap. They will probably draft his replacement.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 the patriots seem to be masters at dropping players at the exact right time.... and I keep hoping that sooner than later it will bite them in the butt
rumblefish Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 with the rumors going around that the Fins are interested in Shu, if they don't land him, Big Vince may be their second choice
Hapless Bills Fan Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) and I keep hoping that sooner than later it will bite them in the butt It already has, a few times, but they slather the bite with grease slap a piece of duct tape over it and soldier on. Either that, or Belichek brings the young guys into his sanctum sanctorum to show them his bathtub full of "punk player entrails"** and they're scared into taking their game up 2 notches. I thought Wilfork, while still good, had lost a step last year similar to the year before Bianca famously put him on a diet regime and he gained a step. He either needs to go back on her diet or maybe he's just on the downhill slide. I do think that note translates "I can still play but I'm not sure I want to" **warning NSFlunch Edited March 5, 2015 by Hopeful
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Vince Wilfork out with Patriots: 6 teams that could use monster DT The Dolphins are a possible landing spot if they whiff on a free agent like Ndamukong Suh (Wilfork was born in Boynton Beach, Fla.). The Bills could make sense with him as a backup defensive tackle in a Rex Ryan spite play (Wilfork might not be willing to play along). The Browns were terrible against the run 2014 and could be a fit. The same goes for the Titans, Saints and Chiefs.
truth on hold Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) He'll be 34 next year, he's fat, and he had an injury that many never fully recover from. Hasn't had a sack in 2 years. If he continues to play I just hope it's not here. All I kept seeing last year was s guy getting escorted out of the play by a guard or center. Back in the day yes he was one of the best ever at his position. But that day is long since past. Edited March 5, 2015 by JTSP
Rubes Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Meh. Great respect for the guy as a player, but I don't want the Patriots** sloppy seconds.
dave mcbride Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 NE moving on from anyone gives you pause, but I do think he's exactly the type of guy we need to plug into the middle of our defense if we really want to transition to more of a true 3-4. We lack a true NT, I worry about Kyle W. holding up in that position and I think it limits Dareus's effectiveness a bit. The Raiders were a bad team when Richard Seymour played there, but he definitely had gas left in the tank. He played well for them.
papazoid Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 the patriots seem to be masters at dropping players at the exact right time.... yes they are.... they just refuse to overpay. mankins last year. revis is next. essentially got revis for 1 yr @ $12 mil ($7 last yr and $5 mil dead money this year). amendola is in trouble too.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Meh. Great respect for the guy as a player, but I don't want the Patriots** sloppy seconds. Lawyer Milloy worked out well for us... CBF
