Green Lightning Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Crap! Anybody but Cassel. We destroyed him a few years back and he hasn't gotten any better. Is he 3rd string? Christ I hope this ain't it.
NoSaint Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Given what we traded for Bryce Brown and Mike Williams, would a 3rd or a 4th shock you? the 6th for mike williams is supposed to sway me? yea a 3rd would still surprise me.
YoloinOhio Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) That cap number seems off. Cassel does nothing for me, but it's tough judging without knowing what picks. Is it too much to hope we traded our 2 5ths for Cassel and the Vikings 4th? it may be correct as if this second, but lots of shoes to fall. Restructure shady, cuts, etc. Edited March 4, 2015 by YoloinOhio
GunnerBill Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 As I said in the Cassel thread... this time last year I was quite keen on taking him as a FA to compete and back up EJ. I think this kind of tells you what they are thinking.... there is going to be a competition for this job and EJ is going to be part of it.
DC Grid Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Too early to say season over, fire Rex? This is INSANE. Trading ANY picks for Cassell. This may be the worst move I've ever seen. Trading picks away for garbage at a Raiders / Redskins pace.
YoloinOhio Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 @alexmarvez: . @buffalobills swap their 1st 2015 5th-round pick for @Vikings 2015 6th-rounder and give Min a 2016 7th-rounder for Matt Cassel @NFLonFOX
Lurker Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Makes perfect sense now... http://www.theonion.com/articles/vikings-intrigued-by-matt-cassels-ability-to-get-t,36807/
KD in CA Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Cassel is a good move. I'd certainly take him over McCown or anyone on that FA list.
Captain Hindsight Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I'm not sure how anyone cannot like this move. Uninspiring? Sure Dumb? Not at all Unless they gave up a second round pick, this is a solid move
Thrivefourfive Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Is the Bills QB position upgraded: Yes. It's a move in the right direction. Again.
eball Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Not thrilled or mad. Better than Sanchez or Hoyer. Not good not horrible. Yeah, better than McCown. These were my first thoughts exactly. Would still like to see Moore or Locker.
Chuck Wagon Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 it may be correct as if this second, but lots of shoes to fall. Restructure shady, cuts, etc. When I was playing with the cap simulator, cutting Rivers and Chris Williams and restructuring Mario got us up to just under $40 mil of cap space. Obviously there's a lot of shoes to still fall, but I'm wondering if he's incorrectly looking at Shady's $12 mil number instead of the $9.25 mil number to start with.
Storm Front Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 We really need to build up the Oline otherwise Cassel is gonna take a ton of sacks.
Kelly the Dog Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 @alexmarvez: . @buffalobills swap their 1st 2015 5th-round pick for @Vikings 2015 6th-rounder and give Min a 2016 7th-rounder for Matt Cassel @NFLonFOX That's next to nothing. I'm relieved.
Acantha Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 @alexmarvez: . @buffalobills swap their 1st 2015 5th-round pick for @Vikings 2015 6th-rounder and give Min a 2016 7th-rounder for Matt Cassel @NFLonFOXSo very little in the end. Very good deal IMO.
gordon_g Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Not my first choice but he did win 11 games for NE when Brady went down. he managed games well, if he can still do that we should be in pretty good shape
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 We really need to build up the Oline otherwise Cassel is gonna take a ton of sacks. He could end up on the Wall someday..... next to Kevin Kolb
Gordio Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Stop comparing anyone to Orton. Orton played like he was half retired last year. At least Cassel can throw deep, wants to compete to be a starter, and will try to win games instead of saving his body for retirement. Orton can kiss my a$$. Hey stop beating around the bush & tell us how you really feel.
DallasBillsFan1 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Not a fan of Matt Cassell. I'm not sure what to make of EJ ... I wonder if 1BD know he is a bust. I say start EJ unless he has a horrendous camp and come to a determination one way or another on him. START EJ! IN the meantime, draft a QB and keep fingers crossed.
