Captain Hindsight Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I went from the highest mountain with the McCoy news to the lowest valley with the Cassel news. The life of a Bills fan. Why? It's not like they traded for Thad Lewis Or Connor Shaw. Guy who has had some success in the league and probably cost a 7th rounder
nucci Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Bills fans will hate this trade because he's not Aaron Rodgers. C'mon...should have offered Kiko for Rodgers
Not at the table Karlos Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 so who is still doubting these inside sources? McCown fell through so they went after Cassel as was said on here weeks ago. next they will try and get Locker and they are still planning on drafting a guy as far as I know we should have traded kilo for cassel
Maury Ballstein Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 We'd complain about his cap number if it was Rodgers This. Lololol.
Sojourner Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Why give up draft picks when he is no better than FAs out there? We could use those picks to get linemen to develop. I am not liking this move much. Hopefully, the picks are below round 4. Given they receive two and we get one, I would bank on it being a 3rd or 4th at worst. We will get a 6th and 7th.
BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Better than McCown IMO. Alex Smith basically. EJ shouldn't worry too much.....lol Like EJ just needs to learn how to throw "the receivers open".
YoloinOhio Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Cheap ish @JaySkurski: Matt Cassel has one year left on his contract at $4.75M. That leaves the #Bills with $12.833M of cap space to take into free agency.
Acantha Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Worse than Sanchez in my opinion, and by a fair amount. But it really doesn't matter much. They're all bad options. He's gotten worse every year of late, and is basically a statue. He did play in the little league world series though, and that's pretty cool. The basic question I ask myself is this: is player X (in this case, Cassell) an upgrade over Orton? I'd say no here. That's only the question if you are trying to gauge against last years team. The real question right now is this: is player X better than Tuel or the QB we could have gotten with the picks we gave up? Since we don't know the picks yet the answer to the first part is of course yes. While Cassel isn't great, he's likely better than anyone in the draft after the top 2.
Kelly the Dog Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I'm hardly pining for Sanchez. I just think he's a lot more talented than Cassell. I watched a bit of Cassell in random games over the last couple of seasons, and he's just not any good. At this point in his career, he's a well-below-average athlete. He's not as bad as, say, Christian Ponder, but he's not good. I'm not criticizing the move; I knew they were going to chase down one of these stiffs. Yeah. I wanted Moore. But didn't want Hoyer or Sanchez. We need a vet that can handle the ball and get it downfield.
NoSaint Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Given they receive two and we get one, I would bank on it being a 3rd or 4th at worst. We will get a 6th and 7th. cassel was a likely cut, and has 1 year on his contract. id be shocked by "3rd or 4th at the worst" and think we are looking at a 4th as the highest.
Solomon Grundy Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Like a poster said in another thread, "EJ should be thrilled"
NewEra Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Given they receive two and we get one, I would bank on it being a 3rd or 4th at worst. We will get a 6th and 7th. A third or 4th??? Lol I'd cry tears of blood
YoloinOhio Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 @ChrisTrapasso: Matt Cassel is not a great QB by any stretch, but he has ability to be a decent spot starter on team w/ good D / run game. It's a fine move. Also was said to mentor Teddy B last year in films
Coach Tuesday Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Stop comparing anyone to Orton. Orton played like he was half retired last year. At least Cassel can throw deep, wants to compete to be a starter, and will try to win games instead of saving his body for retirement. Orton can kiss my a$$.
