YoloinOhio
@RapSheet: LeSean McCoy got a new deal after his trade to Buffalo. Expectation is Matt Cassel gets a similar sort of multi-year deal (not the same $)

YoloinOhio
Makes sense to me since he's a FA next year. Don't want to be in the vet backup market again. He would already know the offense. Edited March 9, 2015 by YoloinOhio
Deranged Rhino
WHY Same reason. Lower the cap hit a bit while locking him in for another couple years, structuring it in a way where the final years are virtual team options.

FireChan
Same reason. Also, because he's a distinct possibility to be our starter.
Deranged Rhino
He is terrible I'm not thrilled by him either, but clearly the Bills think otherwise. That said, I don't think they are locked into him as a starter. Also, because he's a distinct possibility to be our starter. Absolutely it's a possibility. And it's a possibility that he has a good year, which is another great reason to extend him now for cheaper just as an insurance policy.
Reed83HOF
Joe Buscaglia @JoeBuscaglia 7m7 minutes ago I'm having a tough time figuring out why the #Bills want to extend Matt Cassel. Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 2m2 minutes ago @JoeBuscaglia lower his base and cap hit Joe Buscaglia @JoeBuscaglia 1m1 minute ago @RapSheet I get that, but it would surrender their flexibility to walk away. 0 replies 0 retweets 1 favorite Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 43s43 seconds ago @JoeBuscaglia what if he’s good though? C.Biscuit97
because he's so much better than anything else we have. Such BS. He has 30 tds and 34 ints in his last 4 years and is 32. He is a good backup and sucks as a starter.

C.Biscuit97
Better numbers? Yes Manuel has better numbers than Cassel the last 2 years. You get hard ons for scrub, passed around, journeymen Qbs.

Tyrod's Tailor
www.google.com just googled it, Cassel has 8 career 4th quarter comebacks. Manuel has 7 career wins. Counting his mop up appearance against the Jets last year as a win for him. Edited March 9, 2015 by billsfaninmanhattan
FireChan
www.google.com Okay. Here's what I found. 15 games, EJ - 236/437 58.5% completion, 2810 yards, 6.43 YPA, 16 TD's, 12 picks, 4 fumbles, 31.05 QBR, (just averaged both years QBR's, couldn't find it cumulative) 78.5 career passer rating 13 games, King of the Castle - 194/325 59.6% completion, 2232 yards, 6.87 YPA, 14 TD's, 13 picks, 3 fumbles, 38.8 QBR, 80.1 career passer rating So besides 1 more pick and two less TD"s in 2 less games, where does EJ have better numbers? Enlighten me
