Well, you know pickings are slim when you trade for Matt Cassel. In the last 4 seasons, he has completed < 60% of his passes and thrown 30 TDs and 34 INTs.

If Manuel can't beat him out, he definitely should not be in the league.

Still, I'd rather have Cassel than McCown.

@alexmarvez: . @buffalobills swap their 1st 2015 5th-round pick for @Vikings 2015 6th-rounder and give Min a 2016 7th-rounder for Matt Cassel @NFLonFOX

Was pretty close to expected

Locker/Cassel/EJ is an upgrade at the QB rotation.

McCoy is a HUGE upgrade at the RB position.

Rex is an upgrade at the HC position and DC position (although Schwartz was also very good). Roman is an upgrade at the OC position.

IF they can sign Hughes all I see are upgrades all over the place on a 9-7 team.

its a made up joke. we arent getting a 1st to take a player they were likely to just cut.

I was actually wondering more about our picks that we were giving up. I knew you were joking about the first rounder.

Different context, different concept.

Not really. You can say the Vikings got rid of him for the two low draft picks, or you can say they got rid of him for the two low draft picks and 4.75 mil of cap space a couple of days before FA starts. That's at least a slight bit more than nothing.

That's next to nothing. I'm relieved.

So very little in the end. Very good deal IMO.

That's hilarious.

We swap a 5 for a 6 and give up an additional 7 in a different year for Cassel.

That is the hard way of saying Matt Cassel is worth NOTHING.

soooooooooooooo...matt cassel for a song. now only 88% of the fanbase hates it. :nana:

I am pretty open to this move... give him a chance with McCoy, Sammy, Woods, maybe something can happen. I'll wait to make my judgement. Maybe he ends up starting opening day!

In a vacuum, not too excited. But looking at the available QBs, not bad move. At least we added a QB to the roster.

Exactly. We were acquiring a ho-hum QB no matter what.

I know stats don't tell the whole story but with the above FA comparison, this trade makes sense. You have to keep in mind the limited availability. Signing a top 5 or even top 15 qb isnt an option.

Oh I see. You are throwing a bit of cap space into the equation. Yeah, that's fair enough.

His FMV as a commodity in the NFL is still more or less nothing. By the way, he didn't fetch 2 low draft picks. They gave up a low draft pick too.

If true, that's fine. A good trade, IMO.

Still not sold on the McCoy trade, though.

That's right.

Remember folks! The realistic goal this off-season is to end up with something "slightly more" than Orton.

Which ain't a hell of a lot.
