Green Lightning Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I'm talking about the metro area. Cities are irrelevent to the NFL.... Still, if you want to compare horse apples to horse apples: http://www.city-data.com/top2/c3.html You can produce several of those surveys will show either Buffalo or Rochester or Syracuse switching positions but they're all very close. There's no victory in having everybody razor thin and in bad situations. The point is is that they were all in a bad way. Yet Buffalo got a billion dollars from the governor, Rochester and Syracuse didn't get squat. The reason for that is all you need is New York City and Buffalo to win a statewide election. So the rest of the state, Rochester and Syracuse and Binghamton, can all go to hell as far as they're concerned - and we are. And by the way, I live in the city so they're not irrelevant! And the metro area surrounding a failing city is bound to under perform and/or fail itself.

There's a misconception that the Buffalo Billion was for the city of Buffalo...it was not, it was a regional award (of which less than $300 million has actually been received to date). As the second largest city/region in NYS, the reason for the award is obvious, IMO. The Rochester / Finger Lakes region will assuredly receive one of the $500 million slugs from the $1.5 billion competition in July. And I expect Syracuse / Central New York and Binghamton / Southern Tier will win the other two. The upstate cities are held hostage by their abysmal public school systems. Until that fact changes, they will continue to be mired in poverty... Edited March 3, 2015 by Lurker
Mike in Horseheads Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 The Southern Tier is far worse off than Buffalo was. Your not kidding and the things that could have helped in the Central Southern Tier, fracking and a casino we got screwed over on. But Andrew washed his hands like Pontious Pilot of the matters and blamed the shill commisions that HE appointed. I don't think he even knows where we are as the casino was lost to Seneca County to a spot adjacent to the NYS Thruway, and I don't believe the guy has ever set foot in Chemung County. For the record I voted for him, oh well. ...To stay on topic, glad Mario liked the Bills.
jimmy10 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Rochester is far worse off than Buffalo and has been for years. By what measure?
3rdand12 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Wrong, Rochester ranks worse than Buffalo in every poverty measure, graduation rates and crime metrics. You're living in the 70's. i will kick your a== right now! Me and my drop out broke thug friends. both of them. Until that fact changes, they will continue to be mired in poverty... This is an educated statement. and we are putting 900 million back into the parks Dept. yay..
SoulMan Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Buffalo the city struggles because it is in New York State. The only state in the union that towns are trying leave.
Fedido Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Guys, hate to break this to you, but it seams (New York education) that the whole state is hosed. Olive in South Carolina and there is that commercial on TV that NY state offers tax deductions for going there. now I already know that New a york will make their money back within three years of these deductions ending. Crap, here I am talking about politics. My bad. I need to rinse my mouth out with rubbing alcohol.
