yungmack Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 This is from The New Yorker, Feb. 16, 2015 issue, which had a long article on Andrew and, to a lesser extent, Mario Cuomo. As his second inaugural approached, which would take place both in NYC and in Buffalo, Andrew kept trying to get his father to accompany him. But Mario was too weak and close to death. Andrew decided to give it one more try, and this is the quote about that from the article: "So Andrew made him an offer. If Mario felt up to it, Andrew would take him along to Buffalo: 'And he loved Buffalo, my father. Buffalo was probably the worst-off part of the state for a lot of years. And the Buffalo Bills were always an underdog, so he was very drawn to Buffalo, as am I.'" It was just as Andrew Cuomo stepped down from the stage in Buffalo that he was informed that his father had passed away.
Proteus Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Yea I watched this a couple of months ago and it looked like clear pandering from a career politician. By the way I consider myself mostly liberal.
Mr. WEO Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 The Southern Tier is far worse off than Buffalo was.
Green Lightning Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Rochester is far worse off than Buffalo and has been for years.
HereComesTheReignAgain Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I would like to see Andrew Coumo trampled by a buffalo.
metzelaars_lives Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I would like to see Andrew Coumo trampled by a buffalo. I haven't lived in New York for a while but my brother, who I consider to be very knowledgeable, is a big fan of his. What is it that you dislike about him so much that you would derive pleasure from watching him get trampled (presumably to death) by a buffalo?
HereComesTheReignAgain Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I haven't lived in New York for a while but my brother, who I consider to be very knowledgeable, is a big fan of his. What is it that you dislike about him so much that you would derive pleasure from watching him get trampled (presumably to death) by a buffalo? Coumo personifies the slimy politician stereotype. His patronizing nature toward any area north of NYC is one reason for my dislike. His insistence on "feel-good" BS gun regulations are a major sticking point with me. The SAFE act is one of the most misguided and useless bunch of laws ever enacted. Not a single person will be saved by his asinine requirement that you only fill a 10 round magazine with 7 rounds. (criminals intent on killing people won't follow that law). He touted the fact that he "created" Text Stops along the thruway. What he really did was spend a bunch of $ on signs that were tacked on to the current rest stop signs. If you are too stupid to realize that you can pull over to text at a rest stop, you probably shouldn't be driving a motor vehicle in the first place. But it got his face in the paper. Coumo never met a camera that he didn't like. He is enemy # 1 with educators in the state right now too. I'm sure I could dig up other examples, but this isn't PPP so I'll just end by stating that he isn't one of my favorite people and it wouldn't upset me to see him get kicked in the nuts by a buffalo.

Funny, my brother has had direct dealing with Coumo considers him a thug. Coumo is going to have big problems from the fallout of the Sheldon Silver indictment. Shelly knows where all the bodies are buried.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Rochester is far worse off than Buffalo and has been for years. NYC folks consider that Buffalo.
Lurker Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Rochester is far worse off than Buffalo and has been for years. Absolutely not. It's taken a hit from Kodak but is still outperforming the Buffalo metro area on a number of metrics...

Green Lightning Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Absolutely not. It's taken a hit from Kodak but is still outperforming the Buffalo metro area on a number of metrics... Wrong, Rochester ranks worse than Buffalo in every poverty measure, graduation rates and crime metrics. You're living in the 70's.
tombstone56 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 One of the reason upstate has struggled is MARIO C policies , and now ANDY says he has a affinity for buffalo ,what a pile of BS . since hes been in office lets see ,hes made a stupid gun policy stupid marijuana law , shut down a commission investigating politicians for corruption and made gay marriage legal, if hes looking out for buffalo ,look out!!
WotAGuy Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Wrong, Rochester ranks worse than Buffalo in every poverty measure, graduation rates and crime metrics. You're living in the 70's. You are both wrong. Syracuse is far worse off than Buffalo and Rochester. I am proud as hell of my Syracuse and no one is going to tell me it's not the worst in the state, dammit.
Rocky Landing Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Wrong, Rochester ranks worse than Buffalo in every poverty measure, graduation rates and crime metrics. You're living in the 70's. Not on crime. Buffalo beats out Rochester rather handily as being more crime-ridden. http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2014/12/16/niagara-falls-and-buffalo-post-the-states-highest.html?page=all But Rochester does barely edge out Buffalo with a slightly higher poverty rate (27.9% to 26.4%, respectively). http://www.bizjournals.com/buffalo/news/2014/06/05/rochester-buffalo-rank-among-four-u-s-cities-with.html
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Doesn't matter. State politicians lump both Buffalo and Rochester together as one large area that isn't NYC.
Rocky Landing Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 You are both wrong. Syracuse is far worse off than Buffalo and Rochester. I am proud as hell of my Syracuse and no one is going to tell me it's not the worst in the state, dammit. Syracuse isn't on the list of worst cites for crime, economy, or graduation rates. Although, to be fair, I'm not sure if anyone is paying any attention to Syracuse.
Lurker Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 (edited) Wrong, Rochester ranks worse than Buffalo in every poverty measure, graduation rates and crime metrics. You're living in the 70's. I'm talking about the metro area. Cities are irrelevent to the NFL.... Still, if you want to compare horse apples to horse apples: http://www.city-data.com/top2/c3.html Edited March 3, 2015 by Lurker
coldstorage5 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Im a Lib and I hate Andrew Cuomo. I did not vote for him in the Primary, nor the gubernatorial Election. I will never vote for him. Horrible person.
