Report: Lions Release Reggie Bush

A dancer, a wimp and a front runner...will never be successful and will spend career as a specialist on bad teams. This guy is the second coming of Ted Ginn Jr. and is more suited to reality TV and the Kardashians than the NFL

Talent and no guts.

He actually had a few nice seasons running for the Fins and Lions. He never lived up to the hype, but he was hardly a bust

Dude has like 60 touchdowns and 9000 yards from scrimmage in 9 years.

Has a ring too. Reggie wasn't an all time great but he's a good player.

zero double digit TD seasons (rushing and receiving AND special teams combined)

two 1,000 rushing seasons, neither above 1,100

the 'bust' label can't just be dismissed out of hand, especially considering his pre-draft hype.

he also has two 16 games seasons in nine years.

Bad number 2 pick and way overhyped by the media but.... Not near as bad as most casual fans think. He went from way overrated to a bit underrated probably.

10 tds also being a convenient cutoff for a guy that has had multiple 9 td seasons and a few more 8 Td seasons (and over 10 including playoffs in a season)

I'm not arguing he was an abject failure. And I think we're on the same page re: unwarranted hype.

But he's been a shade above mediocre for most of his nine year career, and I happen to believe the only reason it's lasted this long in the first place is thanks to his collegiate achievements.

I agree with this. The hype was astronomical for this guy.

He did have some very good seasons, so it's not like he was a complete bust.

Having said that. I'd rather keep Spiller.

Once given a full time job in Miami instead of the weird role in Nola he has since played 16, 15, 14 and 11 games in the 4 seasons-- so for all purposes 3 of 4 seasons healthy and in those 3 healthy... 8, 7, 6 tds.... 2 seasons of 1000+ yards rushing and 1 at 986 while adding 300 yards catching twice, and 500 in another.

5, 4.5 and 4.3 ypc....

I don't think we are terribly far off but I think he's better than mediocre. Unless you are only comparing him to elite backs. he's been a productive nfl player

This doesn't help CJ Spiller at all........the more backs on the market, especially those that have a similar skill set to CJ......the less the demand. Simple supply and demand mathematics. At this point I'd be surprised if CJ gets more than $4.5M per. My guess is he's looking for $6M per, and the Bills are prob. offering $3.5M per.

There's no way 6m was in the talks. Reggie was 4m per and definitely his closest competitor - if not a little better than cj

I feel Spiller is worth the 3.5~4 million range, more than that, look for a promising late round, or UDFA type.

Not sure if he's worth that to a Greg Roman offense...

Spiller, Bush, whoever: nobody is going to be a big star behind what we've had as an OL. OJ was little more than average until the Electric Company arrived.

Come on man! Can't this be the one time of year they don't suck?
