John from Riverside Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I will say, though, CJ has proven me wrong...on at least one occasion. I still get chills when I think about the 36 yard TD run he had in Toronto against Atlanta in 2013. By far the best run of his career. The way he cut and accelerated with perfect patience and timing showed exactly what he's capable of doing. Problem is, he RARELY shows that kind of patience and timing: http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Buffalo-Bills-running-back-CJ-Spiller-36-yard-touchdown/18a4919f-466e-4a7d-8779-dd5a404d3164 Unfortanately we needed him to do that on a regular basis to justify his pick......no do it as an exception Way to many cloud of dust runs from CJ
San-O Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Question: Given all C.J.'s faults, why draft a player that high that can't block, has bad field vision and only good when out in the open/flat?
Max997 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 from what Ive read on Roman's offense and specifically the running game is he runs a lot of the same plays out of different formations and personel with a lot shifting and motion.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 Roman's offense requires tight ends in numbershttp://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Romans-offense-requires-tight-ends-in-numbers/7c761f20-10d7-4d32-be0f-548cdd15653f

nonprophet Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I thought he was improving with that under Gailey, but then regressed in that regard under Marrone. Hm... Maybe he "regressed" because Marrone's personnel choices and blocking schemes didn't produce a hole in the first place. None of the Bills' running backs excelled last year.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 CJ's not lived up to the hype because of the combination of injuries ad Doug Moron's offensive game planning. CJ was s supposed to provide many big plays per game, not 1 (to be called back due to a holding penalty).
The Big Cat Posted February 25, 2015 Author Posted February 25, 2015 this is why we need jay ajayi ! dude reminds me A LOT of Le'Veon Bell.
Sojourner Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) I'm curious to hear how posters with actual knowledge feel this compares to variety, or lack there of, of play call formations under Hackett: http://billsmafia.com/2015/02/25/breaking-buffalo-bills-oc-greg-romans-power-run-game/ Great article, read this earlier on. Good job on sharing it. Thanks, a very interesting article. I played a lot of ball when I was younger. We were told you fit the scheme to your players, or you go get the ones you want to run it. But, if you don't have them, then the coach adjusts. One of the things that struck me about this article was, it was a further indictment of Marrone as a coach. Marrone - a coach? Just a guy with a job. Marrone - the motivator? Yes. I'd call him a motivator before a coach any day. I will say, though, CJ has proven me wrong...on at least one occasion. I still get chills when I think about the 36 yard TD run he had in Toronto against Atlanta in 2013. By far the best run of his career. For all the talk about system players, Spiller is exactly that. Put him in the right situations and he can hurt the other team. However, a jack-of-all-trades he is not.
