Nanker Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 What a bust this year has been. We haven't signed a single Draft Pick yet!
chris heff Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Wasn't Bruce considered a bust after his rookie year?
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Wasn't Bruce considered a bust after his rookie year? indeed he was: overweight, under motivated, etc. That opinion extended well into his second year as well. As the team improved, his reputation rose, leading to a fawning SI article in 1987 about "Buffalo's New Bruisers," which combined Bruce, Biscuit, and Conlan.
boyst Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The draft in '85 April 30th 1985.... so we signed him way before with the first pick?
I'm Spartacus Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 In Bruce's first year, he let the accolates of his college success go to his head somewhat. He ate a boat load of chicken wings, and become overweight. Once he saw the error of his ways, he became a conditioning freak! That Sports Illustrated cover shot of him was scary! He was the best defensive end in the game, IMHO.
nucci Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 The draft in '85 April 30th 1985.... so we signed him way before with the first pick? Correct. Polian announced that The Buffalo bills are only negotiating with Bruce Smith.......many wanted Flutie instead but Polian had Bruce signed early.
