papazoid Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 After more than 121 years, The Buffalo News is no longer a member of the Associated Press. http://www.buffalonews.com/columns/mike-connelly/why-the-buffalo-news-is-leaving-the-ap-20150222
chef4131 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Since the evolution of Social Media outlets, the newspapers have become more irrelevant.
1B4IDie Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Does that mean I will continue to see "You have 10 more articles" or not? I've never cleared cookies or cache or registered. I just get that stupid warning every time I click On an article.
GOBILLS78 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Readers will hardly notice the change, and it makes sense. AP subscriptions have become hugely expensive, and the News already has secondary wire options, as noted, like the WaPo news service, LA Times and more. Just wondering how they'll use the money they're saving here.
eball Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I guess we can say goodbye to John Wawrow. Does Wawrow have anything to do with the Snooze (aside from knowing those guys because they are on the Bills beat)? I always read his reports on Yahoo.
Storm Front Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Smart move by the BN. Does anyone read an AP article to find out anything more than the news around a subject?

Lurker Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Since the evolution of Social Media outlets, the newspapers have become more irrelevant. Yep, people would rather look at cat memes and articles about Bruce Jenner's sex change than ones about Putin or ISIS or the social security trust fund...
KD in CA Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 I've read it 3 times so far.....going back for more. Wisdom like that is hard to come by.
Nanker Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Going to become a gossip paper JW - the new Ann Landers?

Gugny Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Our local newspaper just announce a partnership with the Washington Times. Small newspapers get readership based on local news/sports. People can read/view national news anywhere. These partnerships are, understandably, becoming more commonplace. As far as Wawrow goes ... his coverage of the Bills is, hands down, the best on the planet. I actually consider that a fact.

Marv's Neighbor Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 That's OK, I expect the Courier Express to fill the void.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 Yep, people would rather look at cat memes and articles about Bruce Jenner's sex change than ones about Putin or ISIS or the social security trust fund...
