He's been working out, apparently is in tremendous shape. He cannot be covered. He'll be long gone by the time the Bills pick.

After the Josh Gordon mess, I wouldn't be so sure.

Maxx Williams, Walford , Duke Johnson or Sammie Coates w the 2nd plz.

I could live with all these, especially Mad Maxx.

i think that you are mixing discussion of high end potential and more reliable production. the guy is a freak of nature, but hasnt been someone you can count on to do the things he needs to do on and off the field to capitalize on those gifts that not even the top 3 have. thats all. when hes all in, he can be better than anyone else.... but will you ever see him all in for more than flashes?

I'm saying we've seen a lot of big, fast receivers come out with potential. I agree he has it but in the second round with no first rounder I'd like to see more. Really wanted to see what he could do in his third season.

He is so interesting but I'm not a fan of rooting for scumbags. There are talented players without the baggage. I might if he's there in the 4th, you got to take a shot.

I think that you hit the nail on the head with "so interesting." He is probably as extreme a prospect as we have seen in some time. I heard someone saying that he is the most physically gifted WR to hit the draft since Calvin!! That includes some great talents. At the same time he has multiple drug busts (including attempt to distribute) and pushed a girl down the stairs. It feels like he would have been the perfect Al Davis guy. Huge risk and huge reward

I don't see Whaley trading away this year's 1st round pick for a WR (Sammy) so he could then pick another WR with his first pick in this year's draft.

As you talk about him, I get to thinking that I could easily see someone like Jerry Jones taking a shot at DGB in the 1st.

I could even envision a GM that's very secure in his job, like Seattle's John Scheider, taking him later in the 1st based on upside alone.

The Chefs just whacked 2 of their WRs, maybe they will take him and just tell Alex Smith he's a TE so he'll throw to him.

agreed. Won't be a team like the Browns or Jets who can't "afford" a big risk at that position. Seattle, NE... Could also see Miami.

And that would be a great situation for him. Winning team with a coach who embraces troubled players. Plus, they have maybe the worst Wrs in the NFL. It makes too much sense.

James Hardy

Dear Lord, the Hardy pick didn't work out. Isn't he like in a mental hospital or something?

But that Edwards to Hardy connection was deadly in Jacksonville.

Coates could be like D Thomas. A slightly unpolished guy from a run first team who is a stud in waiting. Who knows though.

Sure - another team could take him that high. He's not 'special' enough right now for the Bills to take a WR with their first pick based on their other needs. If he turns into a value pick later, I could see it. He's a one -trick pony right now, work in progress with possibly a lot of potential.

A little early for Coates.... Jmo

No way bro. He takes lid of the other side of D. Too too fast. Woods dominates the slot and rb's feast from extra space from cb's and safeties backtracking. I like him a lot. Jmo of course as well.

Not fer nothin', but didn't Barry Sanders have a HOF career doing exactly that?

Barry Sanders averaged 5 yards per carry for his career, he also averaged 20 carries per game (compare to Spiller's ~9.5). Sanders also never averaged less than 4.3 ypc for an entire season (CJ has averaged 3.8 ypc twice in his 5 seasons, not that this is terrible). Sanders also played in less than 15 games in only 1 of his 10 seasons, CJ played 9 this year averaging half the carries Barry had per game.

I realize that all of that is true...all I meant to point out is that smaller, home-run-type backs tend to have that ebb-and-flow to their game where they have 7 or 8 carries for very few (or negative) yards, and then pop a long run, and that that's not a bad thing (so long as the big runs keep coming).
