Estro Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) The 2 bigger name Tight End FA's this year are Julius Thomas and Jordan Cameron. Julius Thomas is an attractive option, but he will command big $$$ and I wonder how much of his success is based purely on playing with Manning. Cameron's had quite a few concussions and he also graded out very poorly according to pff's grade this past season. 2 guys that will be a lot cheaper and might be good fits with the Bills are Virgil Green from Denver and Lance Kendricks from the Rams. Virgil Green is more of your blocking type and would replace and upgrade Lee Smith. Broncos fans love him and don't want to see him go. Lance Kendricks was a guy I remember the Bills brass were high on entering the 2011 draft. He's more of your pass catching TE. He wasn't highly productive in STL, but he was a backup to Jared Cook the past 2 seasons. Might be a nice pickup on the cheap. Here is how profootballfocus.com has the FA Tight End class graded out: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/12/25/2015-free-agents-tight-ends/ Edited February 19, 2015 by Estro
....lybob Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I've been pushing Virgil Green and just checked Lance Kendrick and think that's a pretty good under the radar pick too.
Hazed and Amuzed Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) I think Housler is going to come out from underneath that rock in Arizona and beast it next year. I would love to have that guy in Buffalo. Edited February 19, 2015 by Hazed and Amuzed
Beef Jerky Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Wasn't the whole reason people wanted a good TE was b.c this team has really never had one? So I don't think anyone will want more Chandler's.

Agent 91 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I think Housler is going to come out from underneath that rock in Arizona and beast it next year. I would love to have that guy in Buffalo. Solid choice. I see him just waiting to explode
Maddog69 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I want a difference maker. Not more of the same. I'm hoping the bills go hard after a top TE in Free agency or the draft. Not really interested in more backups.
thebandit27 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I was hoping Virgil Green was one of them...I think he could be a key cog in a run-oriented offense. Also, Charles Clay from Miami. I would not call Clay under the radar...I'm thinking he'll get a sizable deal; perhaps to the tune of $6M/year.
Beef Jerky Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Id rather have 2 Chandlers than Chandler and Lee Smith. I would rather have a good TE for once.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Jermaine Gresham and a rookie TE. I for see either of those two guys as huge upgrades or offensive threats.
John from Riverside Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I know that people would like to get those flashy TE/WR hybrids But I dont think that fits Romans scheme.....TE's need to be able to BLOCK
Buffalo_Stampede Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I would rather have a good TE for once. What do you consider a good TE?
Maddog69 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 What do you consider a good TE? I want a matchup nightmare. A guy who can get downfield. Who can get open and who makes catches. If we need a blocker, put in a tackle eligible.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I want a matchup nightmare. A guy who can get downfield. Who can get open and who makes catches. If we need a blocker, put in a tackle eligible. There are only a few TEs I consider a matchup nightmare. They also all happen to have QBs I consider franchise.
C.Biscuit97 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 I've heard a lot of hype about Green but little to match it. I just want a young guy at this point. Do we ever draft TEs high? The only one I can remember is Kevin Everett in the 3rd and he was kinda of a project pick.

I like Virgil Green......thought he played well in the games I saw him in this past year
