Mij yllek Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Great article http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/17345/bills-offseason-preview-defensive-tackles?ex_cid=espnapi_public
boyst Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I am not going to knock Mike Rodhack on this article but I will say he has added nothing that we do not already know.
Wagon Circler Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I thought Charles and Bryant played very well last season in their opportunities, which makes the Dareus situation even more interesting.
BillsNutInKorea Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Just FYI, DRAFTek has Buffalo selecting the UCLA DT. I also read somewhere, I don't recall where, that HCRR is also wanting to improve DT depth. I thought all was ok.
NewEra Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I am not going to knock Mike Rodhack on this article but I will say he has added nothing that we do not already know. Has he ever. Eeevvver???
Mij yllek Posted February 16, 2015 Author Posted February 16, 2015 The article states ..."They probably need a five-technique type. 6-foot-5, 300 pounds, long arms -- Aaron Smith type guy." The one guy in the draft that seems to be a perfect fit is Oregon's 6-foot-8 300 pound Arik Armstead. It's highly unlikely however, that he will still be on the board when we draft in the 2nd round.
Big C Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I thought Charles and Bryant played very well last season in their opportunities, which makes the Dareus situation even more interesting. I liked Charles in particular. Bryant didn't play quite as well. Either way, neither of those guys was even close to the level or Dareus. We would never lose Dareus expecting Charles or Bryant to fill in.
Mark Vader Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Just FYI, DRAFTek has Buffalo selecting the UCLA DT. I also read somewhere, I don't recall where, that HCRR is also wanting to improve DT depth. I thought all was ok. Our situation at DT is not dire. However, Kyle is getting older and Bryant & Charles are primarily back-up players. Adding depth would be a good move.
Uffalo Ills Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Just FYI, DRAFTek has Buffalo selecting the UCLA DT. I also read somewhere, I don't recall where, that HCRR is also wanting to improve DT depth. I thought all was ok. I'd have to say, I'd be very mad if the bills wasted their first pick they have on a backup DT
GunnerBill Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 DT is not a priority. Charles is a very good rotation guy and has got better the more he has played, Bryant is a solid backup.
Tintonfallsbillsfan Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Dt or Nt is something that will be addressed. My guess is a solid vet in free agency
stevewin Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 It just dawned on me that Alan Branch has a SB ring...
HerdMenatlity1 Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 It's a shame Alex Carrington got hurt. I though the was ready to have a breakout season before the injury. What ever happened to him?
RealityCheck Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 A DT that can play the 5-tech would help a lot. None of the Bills current DTs outside of Dareus can do that effectively.
Green Lightning Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 A DT that can play the 5-tech would help a lot. None of the Bills current DTs outside of Dareus can do that effectively. Not too many can. Different responsibilities and demands.
Saint Doug Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 It's a shame Alex Carrington got hurt. I though the was ready to have a breakout season before the injury. What ever happened to him? Eugene Parker happened to him.
papazoid Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 i say they add a huge NT. play kyle and dareus as ends in the 3-4. mario OLB
Fixxxer Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) It's a shame Alex Carrington got hurt. I though the was ready to have a breakout season before the injury. What ever happened to him? he's listed as FA this year, don't know what kind of year he had or if the Rams will want to re-sign him. BTW. Mayock said this is a deep year for DTs, maybe we draft one late in the draft and Ryan said he wanted to bring another big body to stop the rung (Massare thread) Maybe we sign Kendrick Ellis, but I doubt we go defense on FA.
