San-O Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Jerry Hughes has been a great addition and player in this awesome D line, however he certainly benefits from playing alongside Pro Bowl talent and in a scheme that apparently favors him as well. That being said, how could the Bills even possibly keep him given that the franchise tag would be $15M approx? I'm not saying anyone is worth that, however is he as good as gone in light of the fact Buffalo doesn't even have a starting QB on the roster, or does this not even matter to some? Will ANYBODY pay Hughes that kind of money? http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/02/11/2015-nfl-free-agency-dates-and-deadlines/ February 16: First day for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 No, resign him, which may be doable if he truly wants to stay in Buffalo.
San-O Posted February 14, 2015 Author Posted February 14, 2015 No, resign him, which may be doable if he truly wants to stay in Buffalo. Good option. How much do you pay your 3rd or 4th best D lineman? Remember, they've already got a whole lot tied up in Super Mario and Dareus. I don't recall exactly how much.
Bills Fan of St Augustine Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 No tag. That would be over paying him. I suspect he'll shop around and then come back with a bottom line offer for OBD to consider. If he is smart, he'll resign and be part of something special. If he can get the big deal for long term with guaranteed money, then I thank him for his efforts as a Bill and wish him all the best in the future.
YoloinOhio Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 They are trying to re-sign him. If they tag him, it will be because they need more time to get the long term deal done. If they don't think he wants to sign here long-term though, they should not tag him.
Tintonfallsbillsfan Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 I am seeing some predict 12 million a year for him . I don't know if I would do that. I was hoping for 5/40-45 I also am not sure if the money wouldn't be better spent on a cheaper option on the Edge and spent the rest of a good nt. I want Rex to have quality players to run the whole tool box .
NastyNateSoldiers Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 (edited) I see the Bills letting him go and promoting from within both Manny Lawson & Randell Johnson most likely to take his spot. Probably gonna be committee approach. I can see Rex playing Lawson in the Calvin Pace role. Edited February 15, 2015 by NastyNateSoldiers
BuffaloHokie13 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Franchise Tag would make us pay more than he's worth and upset him at the same time, so please no
