Chef Jim Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Saw Gov't Mule last night with John Scofield. They did a bunch of covers. Instrumental Illness (Allman Brothers) Doing it to Death (The J.B's) Breakdown (Tom Petty) That one was for you Tom The Shape I'm In (The Band) Low Spark of High Heeled Boys (Traffic) Dreams (Allman Brothers) Get Behind the Mule (Tom Waits) Great show.
Lurker Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 (edited) And, oh btw, that's Duane Allman on guitar: Speaking of Aretha, her version of Otis Redding's Respect is a killer.... Edited February 21, 2015 by Lurker
Azalin Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Absolutely. I'm a big Ritchie Blackmore fan actually...though he did go a bit squirrely when he went into the Medieval folk stuff...though I enjoyed some of that too. But I prefer the Tull interpretation if you are in the mood for a bit of the old Ludwig Van. Not even sure this qualifies, per se, as a "cover"...but kind of. Anyway, someone here hasn't heard this yet and that's a crime. Great "cover" of sorts of Bach BWV 565. You'll recognize it if you don't know it. Love this video. Great stuff - both videos.
The Real Buffalo Joe Posted February 23, 2015 Author Posted February 23, 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmnZRBTPzg0 I read Keith's autobiography. He said his original idea for the song actually sounded more like this.
Maury Ballstein Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 This Paul Simon cover is solid. Saw these guys few nights ago. G Love's 10 guitars all sound amazing live. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QJkQCjwu-Uo
TakeYouToTasker Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I only just stumbled across this tonight. The original is one of my favorite songs of all time; yet somehow the cover manages to stun me to silence. I hope you'll enjoy:
ricojes Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I really enjoy listening to Mumford & Sons. They air a concert from Red Rock on AXS.tv every now and then, great show.
USMCBillsFan Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgFQ6WmxdMs Love this version. Simple Man by Shinedown.
Cugalabanza Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 (edited) One of my favorite songs, covered brilliantly. I had to sing that song at a friend's house recently when we were playing Rock Band, the video game. I'm a bad singer and they picked Bohemian Rhapsody for me to try. I made it through to the end, but man I mangled that song. Holy crap, what a hard song to sing. And long too. "Very very frightening" indeed. Edited August 30, 2016 by Cugalabanza

OGTEleven Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 She does a nice version of Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark too, but I'll go with this.
Gugny Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 And I'll throw the Foo Fighters' version of "Darling Nikki," in, too.

Gugny Posted September 1, 2016 Posted September 1, 2016 Miley C. - Jolene Nice call. I saw this circulating around FB last month. She really has a great voice and I hope she surrounds herself with better advisers, etc., so we can enjoy more stuff like this in the future.
