YoloinOhio Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Franchise tag window opens Monday. DE (Hughes) is second highest number to QB. @corryjoel: Excellent franchise tag preview containing projected numbers with a $142M 2015 salary cap from @JasonLaCanfora. http://t.co/2WBcIWbsCy Edited February 11, 2015 by YoloinOhio
eball Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I truly believe one of the players the Bills really need to target is Julius Thomas. He's unlikely to be tagged and the Bills have both an urgent need and the cap space.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I truly believe one of the players the Bills really need to target is Julius Thomas. He's unlikely to be tagged and the Bills have both an urgent need and the cap space. I agree 100% and if not him then Cameron One thing is for sure, we finally need to address the glaring need at TE CBF
NoSaint Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 JT scares me of terribly overpaying for a manning creation. Not saying it's a fair assessment but it's how I feel on that one.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I think I would prefer Cameron or if he has no interest in us then Clay CBF
It's in My Blood Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Id go after Cameron before Thomas. Cameron put up really good numbers in Cleveland with shotty QB play, while Thomas has been playing with Manning.
Max997 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) I have concerns with Julius Thomas. Peyton can make just about any TE look good especially in that offense with those receivers. I dont see JT having anywhere near the same success with another team. Edited February 11, 2015 by Max997
MVJim Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Cameron has had 3 concussions and that is a huge concern. Thomas may have benefited from Manning but I watched him quite a bit and he would be an excellent red zone target while also having the speed of a WR.
YoloinOhio Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 I personally think any of those TEs would be an upgrade from an athleticism/offensive weapon standpoint. I don't hate Chandler but he doesn't scare anyone and isn't the red zone target he should be with his size.
K D Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 so Hughes would be super expensive if we were going to tag him for a year. probably wouldn't be worth it then
YoloinOhio Posted February 11, 2015 Author Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) so Hughes would be super expensive if we were going to tag him for a year. probably wouldn't be worth it thenthe prevailing thought seems to be it would only make sense if they are trying to extend him and think they can get it done, but need more time (the intention of the tag to begin with). If they don't think he is going to sign here long term for the value the team has on him, not worth it to tag him unless you are all in for a SB that year. Edited February 11, 2015 by YoloinOhio
D521646 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 We don't need a TE, period! We have a young Davis in Gray, IMO, Smith for blocking and Chandler as a mix. Draft one sure, but money is NOT best spent on acquiring a FA TE.. Just dumb! Tim-

thebandit27 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I'd rather go after a Clay or Gresham than Thomas or Cameron at TE. Both are better blockers, and will very likely come much cheaper. We don't need a TE, period! We have a young Davis in Gray, IMO, Smith for blocking and Chandler as a mix. Draft one sure, but money is NOT best spent on acquiring a FA TE.. Just dumb! Tim- IMO, there is zero to suggest that Gray is a "young Davis", Lee Smith is a liability in ever phase of the game, and Chandler excels in zero phases of the game. This team needs a threat at TE, and they don't have anything resembling one. I'm fine if they keep Gray as a 3rd TE because he's young, athletic, and can play ST. I'd be much happier if they signed a guy like Gresham and drafted a guy to be the TE2.
D521646 Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I respectfully disagree, I do NOT think we are as bad as others tend to think about our TE position. Sure draft one, but not spending any money on one if I am the GM. Tim-
eball Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 JT scares me of terribly overpaying for a manning creation. Not saying it's a fair assessment but it's how I feel on that one. Manning didn't create his ability to get open, his hands, or his speed.
Canadian Bills Fan Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I wouldnt hate the idea of Charles Clay as a Bill CBF
eball Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Clay and Cameron are good options also, although hasn't Cameron been consistently injured?
Beerball Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Spend the money elsewhere. Spending big in a TE is like buying solid gold bathroom fixtures. They may look nice, but, you're never going to get your money's worth out of them. Y'all do this to yourselves every offseason, it's time to move on from we must upgrade TE. Needs in order are: QB OG RB DB TE
