Ukraine / Russia

Recommended Posts

Poroshenko held a press conference and held up proof of Russian military involvement in the ongoing war in Crimea. Of course, everyone already knows that Russia has boots on the ground there, despite Putin's denials. Still, as Obama and the US deliberate about whether or not to supply arms on top of their ongoing aid efforts in the region -- despite protests from Merkel and Hollande who are trying a last minute peace hailmary -- does this have any impact?

"How much evidence does the world still need to recognise the obvious fact there is a foreign military" within Ukraine's sovereign territory, he asked.

"Our neighbour has breached international law and annexed part of our territory. Today a former strategic partner is waging a hidden war against a sovereign state."

Don't worry, this is just a belated defensive war in response to the Kiev succession crisis of 1018.

Clearly a direct result of the Great Schism between the Western Roman and Eastern Orthodox Churches, further proving Obama's assertion that modern Christianity is just as bloody as the Islamic State (who are of course not really Islamic because true Muslims would never kill)

"On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it's important for him to give me space," Obama said with a brotherly arm pat, noting 2012 was his last election. Medvedev responded, "I will transmit this information to Vladimir."

It was long thought that Obama's gaffe, caught on an open mic during one of those frequent summits national leaders feel the need for, dealt only with the Democrat giving away more to Russia on missile defense.

But Obama has elongated the nuclear "negotiations" with Iran to no end and Russia's benefit. Obama slapped sanctions on Russia that have surely hurt the Russian economy but produced zero effect on that country's relentless military destabilization of Ukraine.

And Obama has dithered more than a year now, with many more months to come apparently, over providing vital defensive weapons for Ukraine's elected government to fight Russian-backed insurgents. Obama's Codeword: Strategic Patience. Dmitry and Vlad are no doubt appreciative.

Obama talked with the Russian leader Tuesday and, according to the White House, the American threatened to raise the costs for his Ukraine intervention. Economic sanctions have not worked there or in Iran, so more of them will?

Such phone call accounts do not include the other leader's response, which was likely "LOL."

Heres a novel idea: US stops destablizing countries in other parts of the world like Ukraine wherein we supported the ouster of a democratically elected leader, and we stop going against our own intellgiance who say Iran has no current agenda to build a bomb, and if they did would take years ...way more than enough time for us to intervene under the most heavily monitored nuclear program in the world, no matter the deal. And overall commits to a foreign policy thats in the best interests of American people, rather than special interest "elites" in Washington and their overseas influence peddlers Edited by JTSP

Throw in an incomplete sentence at the end and you are right up there with an old poster we had here named Joe-The-Six-Pack.

Fighting intensifies as Cease Fire draws close:

“The Russian military has deployed a large amount of artillery and multiple rocket launcher systems around Debaltseve, where it is shelling Ukrainian positions,” Ms. Psaki said, reading a prepared statement. “We are confident that these are Russian military, not separatist systems.”
