BillsFanM.D. Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Very sad situation. Though, I am glad the dad made the correct 'choice.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2942221/Father-forced-choose-wife-Downs-syndrome-newborn-son-family-ashamed-baby-s-condition-raise-own.html Edited February 6, 2015 by BillsFanM.D.
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Initial thought before reading always a tough choice. Which do you choose? The woman you love or the child your love brought? after reading Good for him. Abandoning the child because of a defect like that. Shame on her and hers Edited February 6, 2015 by BillsFan-4-Ever

Shame on her and hers The 'link' on MSN said "Father chooses baby over wife." I went through the same thought process...and came to the same conclusion.
KD in CA Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I think "Mother abandons infant" would have been a better title. What a low-life POS.
Cugalabanza Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I think "Mother abandons infant" would have been a better title. What a low-life POS. So true
The Poojer Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 i'd take the child every time, without hesitation! Initial thought before reading always a tough choice. Which do you choose? TakeYouToTasker Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I think "Mother abandons infant" would have been a better title. What a low-life POS. It's a different culture.
Cugalabanza Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 It's a different culture. That’s one way of looking at it. I’ve known quite a few people with Down Syndrome. The idea that they should, as a rule, be abandoned at birth is a little more than I can chalk up to cultural differences.
John from Riverside Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hey mom When your standing at the pearly gates your gonna have to answer for this one......hope you have a good answer. Just sayin
Canadian Bills Fan Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Wow. Good for him I would make that same decision every time CBF

How many folks with Down's did you know in 1940's America, or in Armenia? The fact is that it was a cultural norm to do exactly what was done here. You don't have to like it, and it's certainly fine to find that culture to be inferior to your own; but it absolutely is a cultural difference.

With regard to this issue, that hits it on the nose.
Best Player Available Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) The Dad didn't really make a choice. he simply got rid of the trash by doing the right thing. maybe Karma will pay her back with "shame" for her and her family for the rest of her miserable life. KD in CA Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 It's a different culture. Yes, a low-life POS culture.
Beef Jerky Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I think "Mother abandons infant" would have been a better title. What a low-life POS. Shows a culture that she was brought up in.
